Them little ones on left, I'll normally clip one of the upper fans off to let more photons in to secondary branches to help speed up nutrient consumption leading to new, "healthier" growth early on. I'll even "stagger clip" the tops on the secondary branches and leave the leaf while they are small. As long as it is getting enough light to be an asset.
I'll pull my 2nd set of decent leaves on the bigger ones to allow light to your "mini canopy" hiding under those top leaves. I bend the big ones out of the way if there is enough room to spread more light around. I'll eventually take them off. Plant can feed off those nutes from the fans if the plant gets in trouble.
Thanks for stopping by! Those little ones on the left are 2 weeks younger, and just got flipped a few days ago. The shoots are just now getting leaves big enough to support themselves (IMO) so that will be the next move. I don't like pulling the big solar panels until I start seeing pistils. Just personal preference. Since I have been running regs I think it was just not to waste too much effort on a future cull.

I's been a while since I grew trees instead of topping and LST-ing. I am thinking that I usually ended up taking 8 leaves total. The first 2 pair that shade the shoots and can't be tucked, and the next 2 or 4 if needed.

I am also growing these mainly to try each strain. I'll be smoking the tops and decent nugs, and hashing the rest so larf isn't even really a problem. I was debating on cleaning up some of the lower flower sites on the shoots to beef up the upper ones, but with the variety of plants I have in there I just want to see how each grows unmolested. I removed the 3-toed-node shoots from a few of the plants, but not all. Except for the odd fan leaf I'm letting them go au natural.

I see where you are coming from.
I tested 50 of GPS last year over the winter. 48 came up and 35 were female. They convinced me Gu was putting out "fire'.

Big repotting day. Took a nap.
I have the one gallon for the bigger Hashplant from @SCJedi, the two gallon for the @Heisenbeans GMO Cake fem still in veg (mainly want to check her root development) and 10 pots for the flowering plants. Only 7 are getting the new shoes tonight, but I'll just put the other 3 in an empty tub with a lid for a week. I do everything inside, because fuck it, but I like to make one big mess then clean it all up. Fabric shower curtains are cheaper than tarps ;)

One casino-change-cup of coco chips in the 3 gallons. then 2 cups of soil brings it to about the level of a one-gallon pot. I leave the pot-root-thing intact, spray the outside with ph'd RO with some basic calmag and stuff. I dust the pot soil with Rhize-up (or similar rooting enhancer) then set the plug in. I fill around the plug with dry-ish soil so (right out of the bag) and jiggle it so there are no air pockets. Water it in and add more soil if needed. I am going to top them with an inch or so of the coco chips after it's done.

The GMO Cake fem will end up in a 5 gallon pot. which is why I am only bumping it up to a 2-gallon now. She's been finicky, but it might have been the HGL light. Lowered the light to about 12" (~30k lumen) to see if that helps.

How I repot - with the GMO Cake
She doesn't look quite ready for repot, but I had issues, so I want new soil around it.

guessed right - could have gone bit

I just tap the brush to sprinkle some on damp soil.

I set the plug in the new pot, loose soil to fill it in. water it all, then top with coco-chips

Stoner notes:
Already mentioned the Blackwater Mystery. Didn't want to prune anything but it might be a necessity. Maybe not. If they all stretch out I might have 2-canopy rain forest.

The OG Skunk is slower to pop flowers. Very nice stretch, very tiny shoots/flower-sites. I don't think this will be a skunk leaner, planning on longer flower like the Hells Angel OG.

Citrol Sledgehammer is just a pretty plant. Very uniform structure, even internodal spacing top to bottom, would be great for long-veg and training. SCROG or something with lots of tops.

All 4 of the Blueberry girls make me think "compact". The Blueberry Freeze is reportedly stretchy. The Dank Sinatra is definitely dominant in both Blue Eyes. If I had to guess the Jelly Biscuit was also a shorty.
Definitely tent plants that you could long-veg without losing control. Not much stretch though, so topping/LST/manifold would probably be better than SCROG.

Had to scroll back to Wednesday to fine when these cracked. No heat mat, just a take-out tray.
they looked kind of damp so I slung some water out of them into the sink. 4 days for roots out the bottom.
IMG_5901.JPG
I pushed them around and all 4 are sturdy. I guess the empty hole lets them harden up a good ways down.

GMO Cake got the lower shoots (3-toed-node) removed and then topped for four main cola.

DCP has good new growth. Both will get flipped when the GMO Cake is ready.

These three are waiting on sex (day 4 12/12) White Grape and Hydra Hobbit are stretching pretty quick. The Nigerian Bubblegum looks like another shrub from @SCJedi.

And I should start getting some wicked mixed-up smells shortly :)

This has beefy sprouts EVERYWHERE. Might have to defoliate this one some just to prevent mold.
