Sooooooo - I really love the seed&weed wine fridge. And since it is a single purpose and not getting opened to make a sandwich or grab a beer, it uses very little juice. But it was full and I really didn't want to cull good smoke to make hash. Id doesn't turn out as well with aged buds and I have tons of stuff decarbed already.

Looking at getting a second, but smaller so I can have one for the seeds and hash, one for weed. I saw this but it's tiny. Really perfect for seed packs and hash balls, but too expensive $220+tax

Amazon.com: Electronic Cooler Humidor,150 capacity, with Spanish Cedar Wood Shelves: Home & Kitchen

Then I saw the coupon. Nothing required, no sigining up for credit cards or anything just 30% off.

At $165 after tax I snagged it. I spent more than that on a pack of seeds
So next is finding a better place in the house for them.

Those Amazon coupons can be hard to spot sometimes but I've been seeing more of them lately.

Top left UK Cheese, top Right Chem D. Center is pheno 1 of the Vin Santo, front two are pheno 2. Why? Because I have one of one kind and two of another - duh... 😁 These are super happy, but are under a veg spectrum light. Wonder if that will play any factor whatsoever...
IMG_5901.JPG
These are also happy. Cruising along and got a little RO sprayed on the tops just to keep worms alive. The Cabage leaf Royal Kush up front is has tiny tops. There's a good bit of close-node-space nugs under the tops, so I'll get a jar from what was almost a cull.

But those tiny tops are gettiing purple, and plump and have fat resin heads. ;) IMG_5876.JPG

The FloRida is hanging on the edge by a fingernail and doesn't want to let the amber go. Nice dark purple on the upper foliage, as well as some crispiness. I was thinking about moving something else in here but it'll mean shelves, and a pain in the ass instead of waiting a week.

The Royal Limez is one I think wants to be a tree, with a big cola and a flat canopy beneath that. Instead I have 4.

Today is the first experiment with avacado-worm-tech to plan ahead and try and have the goodies the plants want in the soil and ready to eat.
7 avocados (14 halves) for the 14 living soil plants. I also used 4 bananas, a half cup of pumpkin seed flour (coffee grinder) and a half cup of corn meal. Should have some worm-processed PK boost hanging out saying "pick me!" as soon as the plants need it. They are all 2-2.5 months from flip, and most are not showing brown pistils yet.

None of these are

The Freak and the 007up here might benefit. the rest I'm just feeding the worms. Next plant might benefit...

The last two pots of "dead" soil will be gone shortly. The CLHP clone snuck up on me. The buds have a cool rose-bud look to the tops. And the petals are frosty. She has leaf ambers and a few on the bud. I'm letting her go a little longer because I took the mom at this stage. She rocks but could it be better??? 😋IMG_5921.JPGIMG_5934.JPGIMG_5938.JPGIMG_5939.JPG

In here the Royal Limes has a sprinkling of browns but plenty of time, and the Freak is still bleach blond. The Chemdog might have finally stopped stretching.
IMG_5917.JPG
But the Flo-Rida comes out tomorrow. I took the fan leaves already to see the buds better.

Plumpness all the way down. The little nug-lets at the base are like rocks.

The FLoRida was light and needed water with the rest. I don't want to harvest a dry plant. So she got wet and she can have a last supper. I'll let her get some lights out then I need to pull her before 7pm when the lights come back on.

'Cause at 5 o'clock
They take me
To the gallows pole

For me
Are running low

I should clarify on the FloRida zoom. That's the only pic that was that clear. It's an upper bud and the new growth has some amber. The lower stuff has a few as well, but less clear because of less new growth.

Blowing off steam first. Swamp Boys are not breeders. They are growers. Whatever they started out as they have expanded into nute lines, lights, t-shirts etc., and they sell bulk weed to dispensaries. I got a replacement pack of Mojito seeds instead of the same strain. Different mom and dad so they have one more pack to redeem themselves - eventually. I'll probably drop the other three 007up at the same time because keeping one to flower is unlikely.

Beautiful tent, everything is happy but the 007up lower left is pretty lackluster. 6 beans so far - 2 duds, 2 that sprouted a nub but didn't grow, and two plants. One male and one wonky female. I'll get a good taste of it so I'll reserve judgement on the cross until I smoke it.
IMG_5995.JPG
But there is no way they could have tested for one pack to have such shit results. Showed a pic of the first demented leaf a few days ago with the finding nemo fin. Now look above it.
IMG_6006.JPG
WTF?
IMG_6005.JPG
Done now. The other thing in this tent is bud structure. The Royal and Pine Tar Kushes don't look to have weight. Might surprise me, but the royals have the frosty super fat calyxes, just not a lot of them. Very leafy. I'll get better pics when I defoliate shortly before harvest. But like the PTK you just cant see anything. The PTK has unique looking pistil structure (no clue what to actually call it)
IMG_6002.JPG
It's like all the calyxes are hiding and sending out long skiny pistils to look for pollen.

I have bugs on my plants and that's gonna take some getting used to. I have noticed zero plant damage so I'm guessing they're the good guys.

I haven't introduced anything but worms, but then I never introduced gnats either. One thing I noticed in the worm bin is that dead worms get eaten by itty-bitty bugs. Since they are essentially composting the dead worm they are beneficial. At least to the worm bin. I am thinking it's the same in the pots.

Definitely washing my weed.

How are you washing your buds?

I use three 5 gal buckets full of water and add 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup H2O2 in the first. 1 cup H2O2 in the second and just water in the third. It's a combination of Jorge Cervantes and Pigeons420s bud washing technique.

I use h2o2. 8oz/5gal. Since I am not washing the mildew I am not worried about a second bucket or anything. I actually have a long skinny windowsill-planter that I line with a plastic bag. If I have a lot I'll use a long flart tote like he has. Buckets tend to be too short.

Best tip from me is to weigh the limbs and label them before washing. You can check the weight to see when the fan has done it's job.

I like finding the right tool for the job. I have a few jars of weed that are really sticky and are pretty much bowl-weed. Clogs up a grinder, or the resin clogs up a joint. The CLHP is like that. Pretty much anything that doesn't put the sandy kief in the grinder and feels sticky. That stuff just scissor-cut then jammed in a chillum smokes like hash and lights easier.
IMG_6007.JPG
Anyway - I love the chillum. I just light a candle so I have both hands to get it going. Even though it has those grooves around the outside of the plug it burns best lit in the center. IF you can keep going through the whole bowl it will burn to the edges. I do waste a little weed on occasion. The only downside is that the green-edge thing doesn't work well like on a bowl. Relighting it is gonna be a downer compared to the first hit, so dump it and re-pack a fresh bowl. If you're low on weed and want to hit it again use the pick to bust up the ash and tap it out, then re-pack the leftovers.

I think it was about $30, and another $30 for shipping from India.

Random shit - Watching more videos and stuff, and for living soil the right amount to water (on an every 2 days schedule) is 5% of the soil volume. That's about what I've been doing but I may have been a little heavy handed on some and light on others. I have a 1000ml watering can (quart) and have been doing one can per plant - so two cans in the 15 gallon pot with two plants. The math works out to 200ml per gallon of soil so I have been close. But if the 5 gallon pots only have about 4 gallons of soil it's been a little over - might be compensating for less soil volume and it drying quicker? The 7 gallons have ~6 gallons of soil, so they might have been under watered. The 15 gallon is off by about the same ratio as the 7's.

I have already decided to drop fewer beans, but back to a monthly basis. I am dropping at least one fem bean as soon as my CBD/THC seeds show up. And I am trying a new method. After three-ish years I have learned that I like a variety of small plants. 5 gallon is all I need for the plants I grow.
The 7 gallons take up more space and I only have them because of the living soil theory that 5 is too small. Fuck theory. I am going to be doing this at least for the fems that don't need sexing.
IMG_6009.JPG
That has the base soil soaked, a layer of worm castings, cover crop seeds getting started and the straw on top. The fresh castings have baby worms in them and I added a handfull of adults (and a few tomato scraps because the worms really dig them). I fired up the mini tent just because I'm dropping a bean soon anyway. I want this to get started at the same time(ish) as the seed then just slide the baby in as soon as it's ready for transplant. This might be a little early, but if my theory pans out, the timing won't matter.

The problem with living soil and the smaller pots is that you are supposed to be able to plant the next plant in the same pot withough removing roots. They'll die off and get composted anyway.

When I harvest the first of the 5 gallons I am going to cut the main part of the stem/root mass in about the size of a solo cup. Fill that with worm-food and compost, then renew the cover crop and let it get ready for the next round of plants. The worm food in the middle will be all castings after a month and can be scooped out for the new plant. Since it's just keeping a cover crop and worms alive for a month it shouldn't require a tent or anything. Maybe a light on a timer, maybe just a good window to set them by.

With 5 gallons I can fit 8 plants per tent with space for a floor fan. With a 4 (keeper) plant drop every month between 16 spaces in the two tents, I should have plenty of room and not fill anything up again.

Doing fewer plants means I could veg in the 5 gallons in the closet. Regs will require more thought. I can fit up to six 5g in the closet, and cullng males from the 5g might not be that bad if I have a rotation going with the same pots.
