They hosted the 2006 Max Yield Convention I went to in Vancouver @ the Pan Pacific....as well as treated a good 100 folks to a very plush dinner cruise around the harbor. After dinner there was a major huff-fest topside. Can't remember to owners name but he was a really cool guy who definitely knew how to party.

LOL....remember those smelly days before charcoal filters and the shit we used to TRY to mitigate it? The dryer sheets...the Ona....the "negative ion generators"....ah...what fun. None of it worked... other than to fool you into a false sense of security.

Fortunately.... the Can filters came online early 2000's...Phat's were next...and so much lighter. those BIG Cans were crazy heavy fuckers...

Res cleaners....like..I think it was called "Zone"? Basically some heavy duty chlorinated stuff that whitewashed/"sanitized" (killed...LOL) the tubs, roots, and anything else it touched. You know...like "Mr. Bubble". Heehee. There was another product like it as well. Blankin' on what it was called. LOL

Ahhh.....gotcha. It's not real old school...LOL...13 years or so....but I have one of those laying around here that needs a new lamp.. We bought it when we first purchased this property/before we had the well tested/etc. Ends up...we have crazy good water...a bit high in pH @ 8 but other than that...really clean....so I haven't needed it. Talk about water cooled/etc...Heehhee.

Found this timer (OK...3 of em...<LOL) in a box when I was looking for shit for the tent/contest grow. Says 2008 on it. Must bought this when I was doing the Undercurrents...but either way....VERY amazing that it sat here all that time...then I plug it in for a few hours....and it still works! Evidently there's a soldered in Ni-Mh rechargeable battery in here that goes bad after time/not being plugged in/etc. Kinda blew me away.

OK...so who else ran the blue Lumatek's? I remember when they came out. Was so stoked to end all the humming and heat from the analog ballasts.
LOL...bought 6 of 'em....and...like many others....had issues. Blowin' fuses....crapping out.... these just weren't super long lived. If it wasn't for the market insanity @ the time/etc...it woulda really hurt...LOL. FWIW...dunno WTF the "400V" shit is in this pic....or 400SL/ 600SL. The ones I had were like the Quantums below....25%-50%-100% power.
Then came the Quantums'. MUCH better units. IMO. I got in the mix with a guy from LA on THC Flamer who brought em in on pallets and was selling them outright. I think I remember $180 each but the fog is thickly.... Either way...I still have 3 of these out of the 6 Ibought....15 years or so later if not more. Again...that fog. Gonna power the MH in my tent with one of em for early veg on the current contest/look-see grow....then switch it to HPS for flower. Love that about these units. Never turned em down though. HUH? Heehee...Go balls on or stay home fucker. It's only 600 watts.

Dealing with that terrible of a loss is never ending!
Our daughter in law lost her battle to Melanoma in 2018....36 years old.
Watching my son and grandkids suffer through this was the worst.
My wife was extremely close to her, totally fell to the bottom.
Drinking, depression lost her job, had to sell the house and move where we could afford to live on my pension.
5 years later and the pictures, the fucking pictures do us in everytime!!

My heart goes out to your family. It's a crazy thing how the water ripples from such an impact. Folks all over...feeling those waves and trying to keep their head above the water.
It's hard to say "I'm fortunate" anymore...but there's a higher perspective out there that sometimes stops me in my tracks as I hear of folks who have lost 3 sons....or who lost a son in the Dominion Republic @ 17...and they surmise that drug runners probaby killed him...on and one. It's a topic that most folks don't wanna hear about...but if you broach it...the stories come out...like yours. I appreciate it man...cus yeah...PERSPECTIVES. It cuts deeply...and it changes us...

I was heading to Holland to see friends and convert my license's, and ran into the 'American bookstore'
who had some great grow books from Ed. ...Now I was hooked, and that was in the late 1970's
it took some years to get an HPS light but until then I used many many types the best being a bank of 8, 4ft shop lights
just don't forget to swap out the tubes for 100% warm white was on 12x12 ...lol cheap to run too
HELL ! it was only last Christmas I scored my first grow LED light, and very happy with it too, tho I will soon do a compare grow with my HPS before that tech gets to outdated to use
I agree above we didn't have science we had the odd banned book and a lot of bro-science, that was killed as weed came legal
and my biggest fear weed becomes less and less fun as it again becomes more and more accepted.

It was a >resourceful< hobby then...as you well know @vostok . There was no INTERNET...no seedbanks...no clone shops...very few hydro/garden shops/etc/etc/etc. It was all about what you read and who you had a chance encounter with who had more knowledge than you. It was often easy to tell if they did when they broke out their stash. I had a chance encounter at a party one night and it changed my world. The guy knew how to clone pot...and was "holding" some very nice green bud. (in a brown bud world..LOL) After a few attempts I got the cloning thing down. Like you...I did 2 grows w/shop lights and saved enough $$$ to grab a 400 hps. From there it just mushroomed.
The acceptance/legality does work both ways on the "fun" factor here. I miss the feeling of old that few were taking the risks I was...and the nice rewards for that risk... but it was also very wearing. Without a doubt...the more money and ease that came into the picture the less sharing and caring there was....but that's not to say that the old days were free from the greed and the BS. I'm sure you remember some of the same stories I do of crossed partnerships/friendship ending spats. Ah....the glory days...Heehee.
Over here in the US...we have quite a ways to go to "accept" pot for what it is...and to allow it's use to be in the same realm as alcohol. The public likes the thought that the taxes are there...but they don't wanna >smell< how that money was made and for the most part...all of it is still hidden in the shadows. I mean...remember the concerts of old where you could barely see the band on stage for the weed smoke? Now it's a buncha fat ass fucking drunks...blabbering through the entire show. LOL...and nobody really has the balls to fire one up...take a few big hits...and pass it down the row to the next folks lie we did back then.
So in all reality...a bunch of that fun stuff we once knew changed quite awhile ago rather than >just recently<.
