BE THE BALL
It's also12 plants max here per house......6 mature and 6 immature, (Ha) But only 6 plants per med card holder, so you need two cards in the house to grow 12 legally. But fuck it now......hey they went and legalized so if I'm out of count I'm not losing anything or going to jail. maybe a fine, maybe not but that's a risk I'll take :) Hell they need criminals here to open dispensaries so I could add it to my resume if getting popped for over count ;)

Big Terps

Growing on a dime
It's been legally to buy and medical growing here since 2020..
The black market is still thriving here cause we have the 2nd highest taxes on ganja in country and prices in dispensaries are sickly overpriced...

Then on top of that, when u do go buy from any Illinois shop, u don't get to see the actual buds / products until u pay for em.. Smh.. u pick your choices off of a computer screen and the pics on their website aren't of actual products...

So it's like walking in a Casino...

On the low side for their low grade u will pay 40/ eighth
And what they consider their best , they will charge 60 a eighth plus taxes... Unreal..
So ya with those prices and taxes, the black market is fully alive here yet...

Man what I'd do to be able to put 6 plants out in the middle of yard, getting all day sun....
Never have I been able to do so here.. All them years of growing in the shadows was nice but to think of what could b possible out in sun=🌲 lol

Talk about Old school...LOL....CO passed Med in 2000. The wife and I had cards numbered in the low 700's in 2003. By 2009 or so there were 150,000 folks on the Registry. Most folks had extended plant counts. The market ate itself....and the State noticed the excesses weren't quite all making it to the MMJ side. Laws changed...again. We've seen a bunch! Such is why we just ignore it all. It's good to be rural sometimes.

I still rely on it for extra income. They're doing the same thing here with the 12 plants per household bullshit rule.
It is bullshit...but compared to no allowances/legality whatsoever and big jail sentences like we once had here in CO...I'm OK with losing the $$$. It was a very good gig for 25 years for me. It all went downhill in the return Dept starting in 2010 when the dispensaries started competing and dropping prices anyway. Folks were buying MJ and selling it on the BM cus those prices remained inflated for a few years. However...the damage was done....and 4K became 1K within 4 years (when Rec hit in 2014)...if you could even sell it for $1K. It got so safe/easy....and we attracted sharks from other states who came...grew...fucked up our scene....then left when the State noted their presence and changed the laws. Gee...thanks.

Ohio had some of the most draconian mj laws until they decriminalized it in 1975. Then it was up to 100 grams was a ticket.

We always heard about those 99 gram bags. Co decrim'd in '74. Petty fines for less than an oz. in possession. I grew up in Misery...'er..Missouri...and the laws there were just as Draconian. "Possession" at the time was to be "in convenient control"....like at a party where it is. If you didn't RUN when you saw it....you chose to be in possession. I got popped in college in '77 for my buddy's hash/weed (they were dealing $20 bags/$7 grams of hash) cus I was in the house when they kicked in the door. I had nada on me at the time. I was just there mooching smoke, doing shots of tequila, and listening to Pink Floyd's "Obscurred By Clouds" loudly. Ended my college career cus I had to borrow 1K for an attorney and my dad refused to pay for my tuition. I ended up trapped/working as a Machinist for 7 years til I bailed and moved to CO with the wife in '84.

Bummed I've yet to be able to find a pic of this system. Called The V garden....and made by "Future Harvest Development" in Can-ya-da....they had units with 32...64...96 plant sites. Aeroponic....each plant site/net pot had a mister.....and it all drained into the res. I was given a 32 site unit when I opened my hydroponics store in 2003. I grew Mescal Mix lettuce in it....and it always got attention ...for one reason cus it was in the front window of the store...another cus I had a 1000 wat hps over it....and lastly,,,beause it grew that lettuce so fuckin fast.....my neighbor (a head shop...LOL) swore I changed out the plants to fuck with her head. 6" pvc tubes....30 gal res. Never did grow weed in it. Donated it to the local high school and did a few classes there for the kiddies. They were always winkin' and tryin to talk weed...LOL... ah...Kids. They knew what I was about...LOL.

Built one of those. Except I used pvc fence posts instead of tubular pvc.

5 or 6 years ago used to run into this guy at the grow store quite often.
We got to know each other a bit, he was selling his lettuce to all the top eats in Portland.
Making enough coin to make it worthwhile.
He had this same design "homemade" but the pics he showed me were a pro setup.
Remembering back I believe it was 8' long and about 6' tall.

Microgreens are pretty profitable if you can find the buyers.

I actually lived in OH back when you were talking about it, got pulled with just under 100 grams and cost me 90 bucks payable at the ticket window. I have moved on but it is good to see the people get the upper hand for a change after last night.

Nerd Gone Vertical
I had that book as well. And Ed's book. Without the Net...as ya know...info was sketchy/hard to come by. "Broscience"...while knocked heavily today...was all a guy had.

So on we go. I knew a couple of cats who bought "The Coliseum". Somewhere around 300 plant sites....and you could use 2 or 3 1000 watters in cool tubes hung vertically if you wanted to fully blow the roof off. Like all hydro...it worked great until it didn't...and yup...there was always a serious amount of time spent readying for the next run. Anybody wanna come by and washed hydroton?

You could run it in the round or clamshell it and blast it from one side.View attachment 131938View attachment 131939

They also had another system called "The Cube" but I've yet to find a pic of it.
I ended up specializing in vertical grows, does anyone still remember all those silo grows I ran??

Equipment....procuring genetics...initiating security measures...there were >a lot< of things that were different back in the day.

If you have some tales to tell of the past...let's hear 'em.

What systems were you (sucked into...LOL) using or did your friends use? What nutes? Lights/hoods? If available/in existence in your area...how did you handle trips to the hydro store? Were you noided as fuck? Were you making late night dumpster runs to rid yourself of leaf and stems? That kinda stuff. You know the gig if you were there.
know of people who, tied their stalks in bundles, and dumped them in front of the local cops houses.

It's was all about asset forfeiture here. If you had assets, you'd of been better off buying, not growing..........at least not getting caught.
Even now, with weed legalized, my county is one that opted out of any distributions and further you can't do anything related to weed as a bizness here. Buncha pricks!
legal lies , gov sactioned legal thieves, when it comes to asset forfeiture!
