This is the last update on the Albany Piff. Both pheno's are winners with apparently unique buzz-profiles (I understand set and setting, my moods etc), and I have another 5 beans to hunt through at a later date, along with the other crosses. I am thinking that one leans Piff and one CBH. No clue which is which.

However... I haven't had any "sativa" profile buzzes of this magnitude yet. I have had a few that were a little energetic-ish, but not enough to fuck my sleep cycle. I got up at 8pm, ate breakfast, made coffee and watered the plants. Good thing I'm retired and can just roll with it. I could see this being a drawback of potent hazes if you have a schedule to keep.

But since that ain't me fuck it! Pleasant smoke too. I can't pin the flavor but it definitelty has a good weed taste.

I have a bunch of stuff to do after the rains, but it's all still too wet so fuck it. I went walkabout in ym woods and I think I found gold. Here's the set and setting. I'm at about 1000ft elevation, my land is a multi-terraced hill, and it's almost all old hardwoods and their children. I found some oddball mushrooms and some in odd places like this:
IMG_2131.JPG
That's a very old boxwood maple that is falling apart and it looks like a Halloween tree. Birds, squirrels and who knows what else live in it. There are some regular domed cap mushrooms that grow in some of the holes where limbs used to be.
IMG_2132.JPG
I have these that pop up occasionally and something loves to eat them
IMG_2126.JPG
I have either real or fake truffles of some sort
IMG_2130.JPG
And then a patch of white caught my eye on a logpile. It's either sourwood or maple that it's growing out of
IMG_2138.JPG
Looking closer I could see the icicles on the bottom

I am no mycologist, but fuck me if this isn't some sort of lions mane

Like for jewelry making or baseball bats?
I have lots of smoking glass. I clean it all with iso and salt. Because the alcohol is so expensive now I re-use it until it leaves a film on the glass after rinsing, then I just use the old stuff as a first wash and start a new batch. I've run it through strainers and coffee filters even. I'm a stingy bastard.

Anyway that was the genesis. I got some of that on my hands and had to use fresh iso to get it off.

It follows that using THC plants is stupid so hemp.

More random stuff. I had a pack of seeds that did OK. Little plants that made a few flowers and then died off. I planted a dozen of those seeds. Those second generation plants in my soil went fucking nuts. This is a row of about 8 plants
IMG_2141.JPG
These are each single plants. They are good for the soil, but anything in excess is bad. I'm being pretty thorough picking the dead flowers every few days so I don't end up with them as a cover crop next year. I am also saving the seeds from any vegetables or other flowers that do well. My first winter project will be germ testing the stuff to see what I need to buy for next year. Once I get it sorted I plan to set aside what I need, then hopefully give away the rest. IMG_2140.JPG

The uglier side of my growing - Big ass pot-o-dirt in the house, along with worm bins and harvested 5g pots. I bought a water-heater pan for something else and it works perfect for a humidity dome to keep worms alive.
IMG_2142.JPG
I won't need it for a bit so I figured I'd encourage some worm breeding. I stuck some tomato scraps under a smaller dome
IMG_2143.JPG
And they congregate there

Since I had success with the little food cover crops I just dropped about $75 on fucking vegetable seeds :ROFLMAO:. I got over 25 packs of seeds though, so nothing like a cannabis spending spree.

I went through and got anything that had a short harvest time and lots of vitamins. As soon as that stuff gets in I am doing a small pot test run of everything to see what to expect - and get some indoor food.

Outside I have two plants that might be perfect for indoors, and would be a climbing thing on a wall trellis taking up no room. The Mexican Sour Gherkin is a 'not-a-cucumber' berry thing that looks like a mini cucumber. It grows like a grape vine and the fruit are thumbnail size at best, at least outside. super thin leaves, vines, everything. The other is a Spoon Tomato. It grows like a sativa dominant :ROFLMAO: 🤷‍♂️ tomato plant with little pea sized tomatoes. everything is miniature and the branching and leaves are all thin and stretchy. It has a sucker at every node and would fill a wall easy if it had the food and light. I have one trailing around my fence and there was a bee buzzing around the flowers and it was easilytwce the size of the fruit. Probably fit a dozen or so in a spoon... spoon tomato...

These are things I'll be playing with when the 3x3 is empty. I'm not starting more beans than I can accomodate in the mini tent unless I get another batch of testers. I want to rig a wall trellis or three and then go wild and just see what grows inside under 18/6 or 12/12. The climbers and the cover crop/veggies, but herbs and flowers too. All stuff that can just be window grown (succeed or fail) over the winter. They can hang out inside until next spring.

It just hit me that I had an infused dinner... I had some pork in the crockpot with hot peppers, tomatoes, etc. making a nice broth. Fat side up, salt pepper and spices on the top, then I drizzled it with infused honey. I didn't measure anything.

I think I have some potent pork...

This is just the start... Marigold seeds amaze me that the little paper dart with no substance can make a plant.
IMG_2148.JPG
The Mullein seeds are that lamb's ear/cowboy TP plant. The big top flowers all finished and dried, then little foxtail stalks started growing out of the base making it look liike a cartoon cactus. I touched one and the seeds just rained down on my arm. super tiny like poppy seeds, maybe smaller. I chopped the tops on two and got what seeds I could- I think it's plenty. I transplanted one this spring and the thing flowered. I don't think it would be that bad of an invasive species. since it flowers every two years you could just chop the flowers before they go to seed and in 2 years they are gone.
IMG_2149.JPG
That pink flower thing is actually buckwheat, like for the pancakes. I tried a few grains and that one is doing best. The fence is covered with both a birdhouse gourd and a loofah gourd plant. I have one fruit. It's cooling off though, and my peppers and everything else that looked harsh is looking great now, and they are swtill flowering. IMG_2152.JPG

Another Piff-day. I gave the church-piff another shot with a wake-n-bake and got stuff done but again, it wasn't like a burning off energy feeling. The rain continues, I have two tall dishpans on the back porch that are now overflowing. maybe 6"?

Since the humidity is up the timing was perfect. I undomed the plants yesterday. All were fine last night except the two late-pop Reveille. This morning I ditched the domes. I put them in the "stoner won't tip them over" trays I stole from the home despot.
IMG_2153.JPG
Then I realized I now have room in the mini tent for everything and they get 130w of light instead of 100w.
IMG_2155.JPG
Ooops - some are backwards... fucking stoner. I meant to turn them and got sidetracked doing something else. It's the two Durb's and the two there was a dud from. That is what this Piff does - it's multi-task weed. Not saying you get more accomplished, but you get distracted and start a lot of stuff. Real fun though. You start projects you never even thought of then realize it was a good idea :)

Now I have the 3x3 and the veggies to play with. When the babies get shifted to one gallons I can still shove some in the 3x3 if needed, but the closet will be empty. Between that and the mini tent there's plenty of room.

That said, the three in the closet are going longer than 10 weeks. With the rH in the high 60's/low 70's for a few days it'll be better all around to wait.

Pulled down the Sky Cuddler and the first SkunkXXX clone. The SkunkXXX was 22g of nice dime-sized nugs, and 3g a larf. Great meaty, funky smell. Crappy pic but you get the idea. I just pluck the shiny green leaves off and leave everything else until I smoke it.
IMG_2157.JPG
The Sky Struggler was a hot mess of leafy larfy bud-like things. Frosty and it'll probably be great, but I got 18g of "keeper" flowers, that I just didn't break into the individual pea-sized flower part things. Another 3g of "larf". But really, it's all fluffy.
IMG_2158.JPG
When I say larf - light and really fluffy - I go by size mostly. This is my little harvest station. Keep everything contained and roll it out of the way when not in use. I have a set of those bucket grids just for the flowers (another for soil) and found a big stainless bowl that they fit. After I buck it and pluck it the next thing I do is roll everything around that grid gently. It has a 1/2" and a 1/4". Anything that stays above the 1/2" gets cured. Anything that falls through goes with the dry-sift. I smoke on the 1/4" tray for the initial test.
IMG_2159.JPG
There's also an 1/8" and a 1/12" screen. I use the 1/4" and then those two to rub the dry sift through. The stuff that goes through gets the fine tuning in the little graduated sifter. Worms get everything else.

First time for me - I don't know if you've ever eaten a wild fox grape or muskedine. If you have, and you've bitten into the thick skin, there's a sharp tannin or terpentine aftertaste. The SkunkXXX short plant has that on the exhale. Real unique. And this one does have a hint-o-skunk when you grind it up, but it ain't loud skunk. There's enough other flavors to smell  🤷‍♂️ that it blends in. It's got stink, but it ain't skunk. It doesn't smell like poop, but it has that "your own fart" quality to it if you get my meaning 😁

And it does have that high-school high still. I feel it tightening the face into a grin, and then the throat and chest then kind of happy.

Weather is clearing up. My plants are coming down. Pics later. Closet will be empty so I'll clean it up and then either shut it down or move the seedlings in under the dimmable veg light.

I still need to move that 200w veg light into the 3x3, then move the spare HLG 135 into the closet. If I am vegging the babies in there I'll wait.

More notes/stoner shit...

The clone may cure out skunky - who knows. The other one coming down should smell better.
I have 3 left so I'll be hunting those when I want to get back into cloning.

I have mo skunk (maybe?) dropping next. I have some beans @J.James sent me a while ago that I just haven't gotten around to. An unknown strain from his dad that was labeled '84 Pepe Le Pew. We'll see if dad had a skunky strain or if it was the classic 'sweet skunk' that was starting out then.
