Soooooo, some of the larf felt really tasty ;)
Here's an early smoke report on the Royal Mystery as well as a product review.
IMG_3451.JPG
My "taste" report can only come from the first hit or two in my glass-blunt. It is very resinous, and pleasant even after just 2 weeks. The vacuum-drying definitely speeds up the cure process, so it might be that killing some of the grass taste. It still has a slight chlorophyll undertone (as expected) so I tried to identify what was with it.

Grape. On the inhale it was straight-up Welches grape juice. The aftertaste was where the "lawn" came in, but also a definite sour note. So overall like a grape sour-patch candy.

Next impression:
high bugs.jpg
I made it through about half the blunt before I forgot what I was doing, and had little red lines all over the screen where I couldn't type for shit :) I am saving the cone for a wake and bake to get a fresh impression.

The blunt: At first I didn't care for it, it was just a cheap new gadget when I was getting a few replacement bowls. I "made it work" now, so it's a great tester. The tendency (for me) was to want to push the ash out of the end after smoking a little - which compressed your warm, nicely-resinated flower into a plug.

So all you have to do is NOTHING and it works fine. It goes out on its own, fires up when you hit it, and if you give it a tap any ash that needs to fall out will. You just pack it tight like you would a cone, but only about half-way. You can maneuver the flower back and forth or pack it tighter with the mouth-piece BEFORE YOU LIGHT IT, but then pull the stem back from the flower a little for the duration of the smoke. Also, the Venturi effect in that little mouthpiece helps keep the ash-to-mouth factor down a bit if you get overzealous at the end.

I'm going to have to try and get good pics, but I think I hit the jackpot with my two Crown Jewel that @J.James F2'd. Here's the description from the Golden Lion Genetics page.

THE CROWN JEWEL = CHIHUAPEI X DUBKING
This is one varietal I especially love; the blending of these two plants creates offspring that grow fast, flower aggressively, with a proliferation of flower sites and wonderful aromas to delight the olfactory senses. You will encounter progeny with a mix of deep rich purple hues and burgundy coloration, and the all green plants that have strong OG Kush and sour aromas with huge bursting calyxes!

I love reading about the shit I'm growing/smoking, and when I re-read this it hit me that there are 2 distinct varietals noted in the description. I have one of each!
IMG_3434.JPG
The one in the foreground is getting some great purple's and red's (burgundy?) in the leaves. The crowns on top are still visible, but they now have symmetric top growth and are shaped like pinecones. The rear one still has all its crowns, all the growth is below that, and all the leaves are still green.

I was inspired by @spyralout and decided to try my hand at a more official review. I am growing testers so I think it's a skill I need to work on.

I liked his layout with the:
Appearance - Bouquet - Dry Hit (Joint) - Smoke - Effects - Overall Rating (based on average of scores)

but I am not so sure about the smoking/effects part. I never touch the stuff 🤣 Actually, I know that it effects everyone different, so I'm hesitant to put out a 'review' on that part. I also smoked cancer-sticks for a few decades, so my tasters might not be as good as others. I do plan to toss it in a vape and see if there's any outstanding or dominant terps.

So here goes:
Black Widow by ILGM.
4-top manifold. 56 days flower, 108 days total and 392g total wet/trimmed.
The four limbs were 116g, 100g, 91g and 85g. Chop was 10/13, so today was 4 weeks.

Cute little foxtail on an under-nug.

Whole buds in the tin

Light green calyxes with light tan/brown pistils and dark sugar leaves. Semi-dense. Even coating of late calyxes feel fluffy. Fairly frosty.
Ground: Still spicy, more sweetness, like breakfast cereal. Fluffy, snow-show. Drop a nug and some dandruff falls out :) .
Vaped: It has a fresh cedar/pine note, very little sweetness but it's there, a little after taste.

Florida Diesel day 32 of 12/12.
I have a 4-top that was a natural, forked on both sides after the initial topping.
IMG_3499.JPG
I split the limbs at one of these forks a week or so ago and repaired, and it seems to have worked
IMG_3511.JPG
I also have an 8-top that almost got culled because she had weird calyxes on stalks at a few nodes that looked like pollen sacks. They eventually popped a pistil or two.
IMG_3500.JPG
The 4-top is maturing a little faster
IMG_3506.JPG
than the 8
IMG_3508.JPG
And some random stuff

Here's the home, and I'm done with 8-tops because they dominate the room. I was tempted to snip 4 of these, but they hit a growth spurt and just looked too good.

Bruce Banner in the rear and Black Widow in the front on the right side
And some "full-spectrum" porn

My GDP is on day 56 and damn close. Lots of milk, a few amber but nothing to start counting.

And shithead likes the somewhat dirty tarp I spread out when watering. He like dirt and outside smells but is scared of an open door to outside. Sleeps on flip-flops if just worn
IMG_3527.JPG
Also hates pictures.

Thanks! I get free seeds, and all asked in return is good pics and descriptions. Least I can do :)

I just joined here, and this harvest was before that. That's why I included a few grow pics instead of just buds :)

Here's another pre-Chucker's harvest/review.
This is ILGM Bruce "The Hulk" Banner (OG Kush x Strawberry Diesel)

A true hybrid (50/50) but I don't have the grow pics handy. It was my first 4-top, but I left some early shoots on and trained them as extra tops then pruned the shoots from several nodes before the tops. It produced beefy buds, dense, and sticky. It had an even mix of two distinct types of tops on the plant (pictured)

Very colorful, tight, sticky buds. Probably took a day more to dry than most strains.

This is beautiful smoke.
Smell and appearance
Whole buds in the tin:

Looks like sticky buds. There's a pic to prove it 👆
Smells sweet and spicy. Retro Christmas candy at Grandma's!
Bruce Banner 20-80.jpg
Ground:
Fresh cedar, floral
Resinous, no keif
Vaped: Tasted like weed...

On 11/23 my Royal Mystery by J.James will enter the arena (chop 10/26) and is the harvest pictured at the beginning of this journal - and I'll be all caught up. I still owe you a Northern Lights review ;)

I'm "Hulking" it today so that'll wait LOL

The last catch-up I can think of with my current grows is that the Crown Jewel were MONSTERS! I tried super-cropping the main tops on the taller plant, but then I remembered that I don't need a ton of weed. They grew fast enough that I hadn't pruned anything after mainlining to a 4-top, just waiting to see if they would ever stop stretching.
IMG_2463.JPG
So at day 30 of flower I had an epiphany
IMG_2772.JPG
I bit the bullet and amputated all the tops, at the same level as the main canopy of the undergrowth. That will be the green painters tape you see in the pics. I used grafting wax to keep the hollow stem-wounds from having issues.

But since I waste nothing, I decarbed the tops LOL I know there's little or no thc content, but the magic flower has many benefits. I am soaking it in alcohol to get all the goodies out, and thinking something topical :ROFLMAO: :rolleyes: (i get bored easily)

Looking good but i see a lot of clear heads still, I would say give it 2 weeks and check again.
I was surprised to see them at all. I tried to zoom in on parts with old growth and new. It's only on the leaves I see them, just didn't have a clue feeding-wise what to account for. They were due for something today, but lower temps have pushed it back a day.

The GDP may be a partial harvest. There's very few new pistils underneath on any of the limbs, but one has zero foxtails up top either. Two are kind of 50/50 with new and old, but there's just not much on top for them to really matter. But one has an entire side that put out massive new growth about a week ago so one whole side of it looks lighter green.
