I just know now that if I really want to find out I have to drop a whole pack. With testers I have no problem doing that now (podcast learning) and culling any twins I get if I need room. Look for the unicorn.

But I dropped $190 on the Royal Kush. It is a classic, and is known to have a variety of pheno's pop. I'm good with whatever I get dropping a bean or two.

That is how I am re-classifying stuff in my bank.

I have some random stuff going on the next few drops, but I want to settle into a system, with a pack of testers, then a few top shelf each run. I may end up having to use both tents at the same time to do that instead of having a rotation, but the rotation was to get a stash built up. Uhmmmmm. Yeah - that part is done and I need to move on...

Fiddler's Green

Just a regular vato
I'm working on the stash part. What I've come to realize is I need to find plants that finish in my climate and sort what I like from that pool first.

I'm learning the basics outdoors. This year I'll see what kind of success I achieve using light dep on the potted plants. That data will determine next years varieties.

I'll wait until I have a better clue about the plant to take it indoors

Well, outdoors you get one shot at a big haul that will last until the next year. That's too much of a stress for me. Bugs, deer, rabbits, groundhogs, bud rot, powdery mildew, etc. Not to mention all the regular stuff that can screw up weed inside or outside. Maybe some auto's so you can get an early harvest.

For me (standard disclaimer) having a controlled environment made learning much easier, and it made learning by repetition and improvement easier. The key was the second tent. Veg and Flower. My problem was you fill up the tent then it all gets harvested roughly the same time. But with the veg tent instead of starting a new grow you have plants ready to flip.

After that I had been dropping some every month with a second flower tent. Basically alternating what tent I was flipping into next. That rotation stocked me well, even with some not-so-hot plants, late herm testers and such that went straight to hash. There was no pain involved in that :ROFLMAO:

The lonely veg closet. Next drop is June 10th. I may burn a handful of bagseeds and germ them in the water I'll be using to sprout the real ones. Heard or read that there is some hormonal goodies that are beneficial. It's shit seeds I'll never grow, so it's a can't hurt thing.

Flipped the County Line Hashplant, she is in the center. One of the short Mimms looks to be male. If one of them is, that's gonna be my test run for putting a male back in veg, nut-plucking, and trying not to pollenate the whole fucking house.
IMG_4400.JPG
CLHP and the two Mimms Kush are on racks. The one that already showed is a tall lanky girl and already standing on her own

IMG_4386.JPG
And all of the Homecoming Queen are getting that powdered sugar look. No late pistils popping, just fine looking tiny flowers. IMG_4389.JPG

So the veg closet will have more plants in a few days. I want to keep one male even if both of the other mimms are male. Not using it for pollenation, just learning.

I'll also be sticking the HQ back in to try and re-veg and get clones.

Not everyone likes Pink Floyd, but if you do, you don't want to listen to a cover band.
I would love to have the original skunk again, not the stepped on skunk 1, I have curtailed my seed buying addiction some, lol
Pink Floyd absolutely rocks, sadly I have not seen them in concert, Australian later light show was awesome though...

The Vin Santo is still mostly clear surprisingly. No telling how lack the leaves will be by the time I see ambers. There's an even coverage of new calyx' on the uppers and lowers. Check again at 11 weeks.

The Lemon Tree is crazy. I'm not really worried about how many tops or where they originated, she's in a 5-gal so I get a good stash, and I'll get one. I took 6 or 7 foot-long sprouts (could have been impressive clones) because the rest of the canopy is about a foot and a half. I also fonpletely stripped the lower stuff. Another practuce I usually don't do. This is basically a SOG with one plant, or a SCROG without a net.

I have been 'studying' those damn podcasts 😁
Duke Diamond from Virginia has the skunk. Dominion seeds/Duke Diamonds Vault - all you can get is crosses.
Skunk VA was the creator of Chemdog (Lucky Dog Seeds) and that somehow plays into the skunk I think.

Watching all of them just because of hearing their views on growing/breeding

Original skunk was developed during the early 70's in California by a group of growers and breeders known as Sacred Seeds, leaded by Sam Skunkman, the digging I have done seems to cross paths with these guys, we grew it in the early 80s but I lost it in early 2000s last vial of seeds were accidentally tossed 😡

Yeah, there's a whole legend around the Greatful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre. The legend is mostly centered around the chem family of mothers, but the group that met at that concert or were introduced because of it all traded clones back and forth, did crosses, etc. while keeping the clones closely held within a small group. The Mass Skunk which had that roadkill smell in a good percentage of the plants came from the SSSC catalog, and was among the clones traded back and forth. People got raided and lost everything, a dudes grow trailer by some river got washed away with a whole selection of famous mother plants, but most of the clones were still in that group so most of the genetics were saved - just not always by the original breeder.

This has part of it, and on Pbud's podcast - one of that chem fam, he says that this version of the story put together by a third party is legit. Lots of name and strain dropping.
Chemdawg 101 - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

I think Duke Diamond actually holds a good selection of the original clones that he is holding for other breeders. They don't breed with each others stuff though unless it is an official collaboration and such. I think the different cannibis cups were also a melting pot of those original genetics.

It's a fun history. And some of the people hate each other ;)

The two taller Mimms Kush were female, shorty was male. Up-potted them and the CLHP to 3 gal. This tent will be thinned out soon.
IMG_4441.JPG
And considering my goal of eventually keeping a male for a few months while other stuff flowers out, the Mimms boy is in veg as a test run. I topped all 4 limbs low just to limit the amount of nut-picking I need to do. They weren't prolific, and I don't think it will take long in veg to stop trying.
IMG_4439.JPG
These will be down to 4 or 5 tomorrow. Taking this HQ at 7 weeks, and beginning the re-veg process. The Vin Santo is close as well, and almost at the 11 week mark by thenIMG_4443.JPG

The NL got dry, got fed and wet, and is taking forever to dry again. I'l either flip it and see what happens, or prune the hell out of it and see if I can kill it or force it to grow.

I got bored, and realized that I only smoke hash occasionally, and have some aged - plenty actually. But I do edibles almost daily. so the stash of Paradise Deisel keif got decarbed. It was close to three ounces before decarb. Closer to two after. The divet in the middle. is from me. They each filled half a cup, but for even heat distribution I just made a hole in the middle and stacked the stuff up the sides.

Two batches, two grades. But since it's for edibles I mixed it all together. The darker one had the higher veg content.

I thought more about this, and the problem with "original" skunk is that about a quarter of the weed back then smelld skunky and was called skunk. Before strain names became a thing. It was more of a classification of weed rather than a strain.

So the person that nailed down any strain that was predominantly skunky called it skunk.

They all originated from catalog seeds, "trip to Amsterdam" (type) seeds, or bagseeds at some point - but the skunk was an American thing. I think Virginia was another hub that it originated from in the US.

And I'll buy beans from the dude that has an actual skunk plant now. I don't care what the origin is as long as the smell, taste, and that face-numbing high go along with it. I have bought "superskunk", grown out several different things that call themselves skunk because of lineage - but they all smelled like fucking perfume. So fuck lineage or who started it - or kept it. Motherfuckers need to breed it and sell it or shut the fuck UP! 😁

The plants changed my mind on which one gets the 7-week chop. IMG_4445.JPG
The tall one in the front is where it is so I can snag it out in the dark tomorrow. The three shorter ones were my first thought, but the taller one has the fade going on. On the mom(s) it was a good sign of early doneness.

They all got soaked tonight, and I want the plant to suck up all it wants before I start snipping tomorrow. But I want to let it cool off and get some dark time before I harvest.

I agree the original skunk was some totally ripe stuff, I could smell it from a long way way off during my gorilla days, scary part was harvesting it all and driving home, feared I left a trail of skunk stink for miles lol, I too have tried some advertiserd skunk, super skunk, skunk #1 none came close, a Baggie with a few nugs in your pocket drew looks from knowing people... The quest continues

I’ve got an idea or maybe you’d call it a belief, as to why there’s no skunk around anymore, but I’m sure everyone would think I’m crazy as hell.
