Finally got it wired up. I wired it up like the bottom diagram in the picture I posted. Unfortunately the first strip in the series circuit burns brighter and hotter than the second strip. So I will be rewiring them so that all the strips are in parallel.

Yall 2x 12v in series @500mA will be 24v @ 500 mA = 12 watts

2x 12v in paralell @500 ma will 12v @ 250ma.

I wire series strings into parellel for strips.
