Crimson Grows

Yeah flipping the tent was a good idea. Blue Kush is a good stretcher and so is Dinachem. I think they will fill the tent in a week or so. Lets see. I really wanted to keep the pheno runs going under the main canopy but i think i’ll need to dedicate one of the 2x2 for the pheno runs.

Indigo Lily. Very sexy plant. Growing much like a bush and it looks very healthy at the moment. I’m sure that’s gonna change in the near future tho. Because it has only 2 gallons of media to support all this growth. Well we’ll see. Also i’m not gonna let it stretch much because it’s taller than any other plant in there and i don’t want to adjust my lights according to it. I’m gonna have to do some topping on a flowering plant probably. That should be fun.

Dinachem. Still crazy single blades but they look more like proper leaves now. I’m hoping for monstercropped flowers on this. Like when it switches back to veg, it branches out like crazy and grows very fast in a very short time so maybe a similar thing could happen with flowers. Crazy looking fat, fat colas. Hahhaha. Nah, it probably needs to revert fully before flowering but hey, what am i going to lose by trying it out.

NL responding well to the lower DLI. The intensity is the same, 480w but it gets about 33% less energy daily. It is ok with it. Which is a good trait imo because even with relatively lower dli this gal performs well. By the way dli is not low per se. At the moment they get about 35-40 moles per day. Which equals to growing in an open field in Florida during August. So thats more than enough i’m sure.

Edit; that 35-40 moles is at the top of the canopy of course.

Before the flip; leaves are shying away from the lights.

Today; looks better. Leaves are more “erect”.

And let me do one more timelapse of the Blue Kush here in honour of its 1st week of training. Haha. It responds very well to bending.

So all in all, all is going well.

Wow! They filled the tent very nicely. They all look very healthy and Dinachem started throwing leaves with 3 and 5 blades. So it may not stay far behind the others. Looks promising.

NL looks much better. It was always healthy but the leaves at the top looks much better now.

And the Blue Kush.. looks very healthy. I changed the spots. Moved the Indigo Lily to where the Blue Kush was and vice versa.

Looking fine. I’m glad i flipped them early because i was clearly underestimating their stretch.

Blue Kush especially. If this gal wasn’t tied down it’d probably outgrew the tent.

Indigo Lily. Marvelous plant. Very beautiful. Today i get a definite blueberry smell from the stems. It’s probably gonna end up as a great yielder.

And underneath the canopy there are some seedlings and herbs. There is enough light down there to keep those seedling short and healthy like that. I’m impressed.

Repositioned them again. Haha. Seems like the Indigo Lily is drying up pretty quickly now. Like everyday it needs watering. Well anyway they look ok and Indigo Lily is budding already.

Dinachem is definitely going to catch up with them but i hope it doesn’t shed much single blade leafs. They tend to shed when revegged. That has been my experience with revegging. Anyway tops look almost normal now.

And the infamous NL. I’m glad i get to look at it as soon as i open the tent. It’s something special. Very thin leaves as you can see. Eventhough this is a heavy indica you can’t see it in the leaves and its effect is not indica to me. At all. This maybe a sativa leaning pheno of NL or whatever. If such pheno exist this must be it. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not sativa per se but it’s very pyschedelic much like a good sativa and not much of a body stone either. It is there for sure. Especially with a prolonged session, that body stone will settle. But its not immediate, takes hours before it kinda makes you feel tired and until then just a very fast and cerebral high. Including auditory and visual distortions in perception. I mean you can dream with your eyes open and can’t distinguish which one is the reality. True story. Hahah.

September 13th. Friday.

For 18 days of growth, this seems satisfying. I’m happy with their vigour. For the Indigo Lily it may be hybrid vigour as its an F1, but the others just shows me how healthy those bonsai mothers can return back to being monsters in short time. Especially NL. It was the oldest bonsai mother. I’ve been keeping that particular bonsai for a year now, at least.

When do you think is too early and too late to start bonsai? What size pot maximum?
Well whatever pot size makes you comfortable. I’m now using 7cm square pots but i have used 5cm pots too. Only problem in those tiny pots i needed to water more and transplant more frequently.

Just take clones (preferably in flowering so you can also monstercrop them) and when they root, go directly into the those small pots and prune vigorously to get a good bush shape going and preserve that shape from then on.

It’s too late to bonsai if you have to down pot imo. It is do-able but not preferable.

Thanks. I have a clone that is still small but rooted and healthy in a cup and I might want to bonsai her.

Try it bro. Keeping mothers is the only way to get consistent supply of super high quality weed imo. But i don’t have the space to keep 10-20 mothers. By keeping bonsai i can hold onto 40 different beauties in a space otherwise can only sustain 4 to 6. And i haven’t had the chance to fully test with an old mother until now. For now it looks promising. I wasn’t expecting any detrimental effects by the way but it’s good to confirm it anyway.

I will. Maybe clone this clone and try it.

I’d have lost this beautiful NL pheno otherwise. This was i think my 3rd grow or something and i was really reluctant to keep a full sized mother. I think there are 2 ways to this. As someone suggested in the bonsai thread, either you get one big plant with a different cultivar grafted onto each branch, which would be cool especially if you are limited by plant count and the other way is to keep them small and many. I’m glad i stumbled upon bonsai.

My buddy's dad is doing this with fruit cultivars, one tree has peaches plums and nectarines on one i think. Very cool. I think bonsai is the way to go to your point. I'll have a 3x3 area for this in the near future which should hold a shit ton of bonsais I hope.

Kudos to him! Yeah i’d love to have that tree! Haha. 144 healthy bonsai should easily fit that space with 7cm square pots. 144! Hahah. Waiting for some pics when you set that up.

I have 5.5 inch (14cm) square pots I'm thinking of using, about 3L each. That would be 72. Lol! Still a shit ton. Unless smaller pots are better. I still want to keep the square shape, I like how they fit in spaces very nicely. It'll probably be like hard drive space though.
"1 TB, that's plenty!"

Hahha. Bonsai is about keeping them small. 3L is what i flower in occasionally. The pots i use for these are .25L or .33L at most. I forgot. Even then they grow up to 30+ cm then i prune them back to about 20 or so. Also i think when you go with 14cm pots the total you can cram in there will be 36.

Ah with 7cm pot 144 plants but double that size only 36? Either way still a good amount. Ok I will look for smaller pots.

Yeah my geometry sucks but its like, 1 14 cm square covers 4 7 cm squares. Like 2x2 is 4 square feet but 4x4 is 16.

It’d just be easier to maintain small pots for long term imo. Something in a 3L wouldn’t be bonsai. It’d grow too fast and too tall. .25L or .33L works great.
