My Bagseed Experiment

Update on day 87: Jesus I should be farther than this but I have 2 live plants and it is a learning experience. I'm reaping my own self-assuredness that it can't be that hard. Do your research people. Anyway.

So my female is doing extraordinarily well. I fed both of them 5 days ago with a bit of FFBB and FFGB. They both were beginning to turn a bright yellow at the top beginning on the outside of the leaves going in. I also did a light foliar feed of Epsom to introduce some Cal-mag as I use RO water. It had to be either Cal-mag or nitrogen as they are a deep and beautiful green now.

My girl is really starting to bush up again and her pistils are looking whimsical. My other plant, sex yet to be determined, has surprised me since seed that it has stayed alive so the fact it is still going is a shock. It is also beginning to get some new growth at the nodes though it is still a 3 blade plant. I'm posting a picture of my female and my as-yet-unknown sex plant.

As my tent tends to stay in the mid 80s I have set up a kind of cool air intake with some dryer ducting and my circulation fan. Now it is sitting at a steady 78 and the plants seem to enjoy it.
Epsom is only mag no cal. Mag n sulphur

But in the last set of pics the leaves look fine. No drooping, rust spots, bug-holes, etc.

With the start you got you are going to see some leaf damage show up. It never gets better on that leaf, so watch your new leaves.

Also, in some of your pics I see the leaves are wet.

  • If you spray the leaves, you could be adding to moisture in a "mold" environment - bad.
  • You could also just have stuff in the water (mineral content) that looks like a white powder when it dries - especially over time.
This 👆 is why I don't attempt diagnoses
That wet looking reflection is actually from the epsom/distilled water foliar feed I did. It dried into a shiny kind of pattern. Tripped me out. I've been digging through threads and it doesn't seem to be too serious. I'm just going to leave them be. My new soil and fabric pots will be here soon and I am going to re-pot them. I did water them with pure water last night since the pots were light and very dry.

I'm not wanting to over love them so I'm trying to just peek in on them twice a day. They are perky and happy looking though. As long as nothing is seriously wrong I will let nature sort itself out.

I believe VPD is a relation of RH room temp and leaf temp.
So ya night would be different because your leaf temp is the same temp or lower than room at night. I don’t think night is as crucial as day, just have to keep RH below powdery mildew happy zone.
I just printed out a VBD chart the other day and have been watching it. I have always known roughly were to have my humidity at and while watching it i was thinking this is a hard mark to hit at lights out. So it makes sense that it is more of a lights on chart. @Turpman the chart that i found has 2 numbers it works off of. RH,RT. Can you tell me how leaf temps tie into this. Does room temp= leaf temp?

So, did "Dr. Powdery Mildew" know you had dried up Epsom residue on your leaves? DAMN I'm good! LOL
No and they don't seem inclined to listen. I did put in there that I did a foliar feed as well. I responded and someone else kind of agreed with the mildew dude and then put it on my inexperience. Not that I'm not making mistakes but at least I knew the cause of that. And the leaves do not correct themselves? That has got to be crazy when something bad happens.

Doubt theyre male. Almost bet female. Seedless weed is mostly indoors which means that a seed in that bud more than likely came from a stressed plant kicking nanner. It wasnt a male hit it or be seed everywhere. Im still at beginning of youre tgread so maybe speaking of things you know now. Dont mean dont grow it just watch weeks 2-5 flower. I watch em all anyways. Even bought fem seed. Im no pro just thought i get it out there.
One is definitely a female. She is the bushier one. The other one is worrying me a bit. I ordered fem seeds. Waiting on them to arrive. We were so excited to find even one seed in our bud which is why I jumped in WAY too fast.

If they are droopy, they will perk up when you water - if they get light or nutrient damage that does not change. But the new leaves growing should not be effected if you fixed the issue.

If I had to put a dollar in the office pool, you will most likely see a problem with a Ca/Mg deficiency at some point (if you have an issue) - or some related deficiency based on those being out of balance. You shouldn't have any issues with nute-burn because we already covered the light feeding part ;)

I started seeing better results when I started using R/O (or distilled but that's expensive if you don't have a source) and then automatically adding the cal-mag before I do anything else. Then if the feeding schedule I am going by says to add more, I add more. I also don't reduce it to 25% like the rest of the nutes. I think "cal-mag-burn" - if that's a thing - is rare enough that I am not concerned using the mfg recommended dose.

Yeah just watch em. You know you wanna watch em anyways. (they grow slower if you stare tgough) lol. I agree with the light feeds i feed light n dont follow directions. I let the plants talk to me now. What plant is concerning? What about it? You def should have calmag on deck.

Thanks. And i work in the tattoo industry so I have access to a ton of distilled water. Literally. I've got a closet full of it. Definitely not going to have a burn issue since we cut it way down from the instructions after you helped me out.

They aren't drooping or anything though so I'm happy. They aren't turning yellow anymore and I believe there are 2 bud sites forming. When it is lights on time again I will take a picture of what I believe are the bud sites away from the LED light. Maybe you can help me figure out if they are bud sites.

What kind of fem seeds are you waiting on? And did you say that you ordered from seedsman?
I actually did a separate post on this asking for some advice. I did order from seedsman and I ordered Kryptonite, Skunk XL, White OG Diesel, and they are throwing in White Widow. Mind you, they are all just feminised. No autos. I still hadn't even joined a forum when I first ordered them. You have any experience with them? And i think my next run I'm going to try and just get some off someone in this forum.

If you go back a page or two on my journal there is a clear picture of my deformed plant. You can see it in one of the 3 photos above as well. Ever since it broke soil it has been deformed. Its little cotelydons were warped. Then the stem started bending naturally. The leaves are wavy and dark green. It has only gotten to 5 blades on 1 leaf at all and i popped it in September. Mind you, my methods were definitely wrong and it stunted their growth even more. But my girl has bounced back a bit. My other plant has not.

I thought that is what you said. Seedsman is ok and you will most likely get them. There are so many sources here you will never have to order from across the pond again. Also much cheaper here in the US.

Another thing the longer you grow the more you will realize the importance of good tested genetics.

Yeah, I spent a lot of money on them. And it took 3 days just to get my order in. Then I had to end up sending a check. It got a bit frustrating. At the time I couldn't find any US companies. Or a company that would ship in the states. Once I get closer to harvest I'm going to try and figure out where to get the next batch from. I would try to clone but I don't have the space set up yet and I'd like to find a really good strain to do that with.

The great thing about getting the seeds right here on the forum is you can watch the grows and test grows to know absolootly that you have good genetics. You will get to the cloning soon enough kind of a natural progression.
That is what I said yesterday. The more I'm reading, the more I'm realizing I have no idea what I'm about to get.
Some of these breeders make a old timer such as myself nervous with the fem seeds. You will probably get some good plants from them. You just have to stay vigilant for herms. We can help with that thru pictures so don't sweat it. As a matter of fact @jacrispy is holding some seed auctions right now. I guarantee you there are some gems coming up. Average genetics is like driving a economy car . Top shelf genetics are like driving a nice cadillac lol

I believe the leaf temp lowers as the stoma is open and releasing water. Most charts have a leaf temp. 1or 2deg below room temp.

Okay i will look around at some others that show the leaf temp part. I was looking around trying to find one in fahrenheit not celsius . I will look again. I have one of the laser guns that gives me the surface temps and i have noticed just that like you said 1-2 deg below room temp.
