Current Breeding Tent #1
Pollen Donor: Black Lights (Black Domina x Northern Lights #1)
"Short 'n Quick Fuel"

I very much enjoy the headbanging fuel plants that short circuit your system and make you swear you’ll breathe fire on the exhale. It seems these great traits come with longer flowering times and serious skyscraping stretch (landrace sativas excluded ;)). Wouldn’t it be great if you could get the eye watering flammable terps and stoned stupid effect in a plant that stays manageable with a quick finish?

I will be putting the Black Lights male to work by pollinating: Chem’91skva, ChemD, Sour Diesel (Rattlesnake cut), H.A. OG, and Chem Kesey.

In this run, 2 of the 5 crosses are in my plans for further line work, specifically the H.A.OG and Chem Kesey (Chem’91skva X 88G13HP). I believe the 88G13HP is G13 X (Hashplant x NL#1), so there will be some reinforcing of NL#1 in the pool.

The Black Lights interests me as a potentially great male for these ladies because of the parentage behind him. The Black Domina is a quicker finishing indica, and the Northern Lights #1 has a spray paint terp profile. Hopefully, the Black Domina can bring down the harvest range on these ladies. The NL#1 spray paint smell should reinforce the volatile nature of the fuely terps in the pool, or at least, not water them down.

While my sights are set on the Chem Kesey and H.A.OG, I have the room in the tent to include the others. Plus, they definitely fit the description of the longer flowering potent fuel plants. I will pop them all eventually and always take the opportunity to add to my breeding stock.

These ladies have been flipped and are at day 11 of flower. The Black Lights male has been cloned and stands at the ready to be flipped after the ladies get a head start.

The 88G13HP seems to have narrowed the Chem leaves a bit in this cut of Chem Kesey (Chem'91skva x 88G13HP), but the branching and tendency for nice elongated structure stays strong.
Here is a side-by-side with the Chem '91 skva and (Chem '91skva x C99) from Dominion Seed Co. You can see the Chem dominance in this pheno.
Don't mind the river of purple velvet, little known tidbit: Chemdogs love purple velvet😉

Well put me in the line of people wanting that NL1/BD X HAOG when they are available!!!

If I had to pick just one, Chem D. Each cut shines in different aspects. I'm working on an in-depth smoke report/comparison of the Chems. Knowing that it can be of general interest and can help people ID the specific "Chem" traits in various crosses or cuts they get as Chemdog, I want to be thorough.

This means many smoke sessions over time in different situations (in a joint, through glass, wake-and-bake, nightcap, etc.) taking notes and picking others' brain when they smoke it. I find that getting other people's reviews who are not growers or have even heard of the cuts can give interesting insights. They never spent hours researching the plant and as a result, don't have specific expectations.

Also, growers can develop attachments to certain plants due to the growing experience that a disinterested non-grower wouldn't care about. They can't taste the grower friendly structure in the final bud, so it doesn't influence their assessment.

got the thread bookmarked on my puter for easy reference. ChemD my fave, too, bro. Got some 91 crosses, have had some good phenos, but not as consistant sledge hammer as the D. Had the sis way back when, also the 4, they just aren't as strong. Sis a lil finicky and four just not in same book potency wise, jmho. Thanks for all your info, greatly appreciated.

This exactly. When you ask "the smoker" who simply just likes to puff on tasty smoke and get real high doing it, your likely going to get an unbiased answer. There is no preconcieved opinion based on name, hype, parental lineage etc.

yeah, friends always have nice things to say, but they all know where it came from and are thankful for the generosity my partner and i always show with our harvests so while it's nice, i don't put too much stock into it. the true flattery comes when you're at a party and on the patio smoking with strangers and there are 3 or 4 joints going around and each time yours gets to someone they comment on how good it tastes ;)

Heres a side by side of my two flowering chems for your analysis if you would.
Thank you. Your plants are looking great. Couple notes from a quick look-over:
Mystery Chem Cross.jpg
I'm seeing some sporadic double serrations on both plants. This is a trait that can be seen in Chem D and Chem'91JB. The fan leaves look more elongated and narrow than the Chem'91JB. The plant on the left has a 5 blade fan (Like the Chems, while the plant on the right is sporting a 7 blade fan. Also, there seems to be more leaf margin (space between veins) density in the plant on the right.
mysterychem1.jpg
The obvious difference between the two is the purple coloring expressing in the plant on the right. This is not a Chem trait, but does hint at the mystery genetics in this hybrid. The plant on the left is less leafy than the other and seems to be stacking calyxes in a less dense opposing symmetric pattern. The purple plant looks to be filling out evenly.

Also, the stigma on the left plant look thicker than the right. Chem'91skva is a bit slow to start stacking the flowers, so the plant on the left seems to be more Chemmy than the plant on the right.

What smells are these ladies throwing off so far?
