I went ahead and cranked up the light to 600 watts today. All good so far.

I noticed an odd thing on one of the GG4 leaves as shown below. Anyone ever seen this before or know what may have caused it if it’s not genetic?

And here are some gratuitous beaver shots of the other girls.

The Heisenbean Ladies have come around and are looking healthy and are growing good now.

So time to start training. My plan is to mainline these plants for eight main colas each, all other side branching to be removed. That’s the plan anyway, it may change with rime.

Is there any difference if I top them at the third or fourth node? There isn’t much height difference to worry about. Here’s some side shots. They are about five inches tall.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Are you running a single manifold ?
You mentioned taking clones as well.

I take clones off the bottom branches, now that you have topped them they should pop up fast.

On the branches that you are keeping ( one pair -two pair? ) one can follow the mantra -
" wait for the fourth, cut off everything but the third"

If you are keeping four pairs,,,you already have 8 tops. 🤓

Those are gonna go wild bro, you are in for a good couple weeks ! I think you will have a full tent by trick or treats.

I’m going to main-line them. The difference between main-lining and manifolding as I understand it, is that with manifolding, you top the plant and let the side branches from lower nodes develop into large branches, whereas main-lining only develops the branches that are a result of the topping. I hope that make sense.

So, I’ve topped them just above the fourth node. The two resulting tops will be topped again to produce four tops. Those four tops will be topped to produce eight tops. The side branching that will grow from the original first, second and third nodes will be removed and either used as clones or discarded.

This what the stalk should look like if I’m successful. Notice how all eight tops are the main stalk, vs. having side branches coming out of the main stock.

Gotcha. That is the part I was wondering about.
I have done that very prune before. It can be very successful.
Your explaination was sound, I only confused myself ; in wondering if this was all coming off a pair.

I thought you may be doing this,,,
Here is a similiar approach - same(iliar) thing, using 2 pair

Double mainline, 16 tops, zero height.

Topped. First and second branch sets removed, third and 4th branches topped twice.

At any rate, you looked cocked to fire.
Am I recalling correctly ? You are fellow Albertan?

So this pic is of what I would call manifolding, since some of the “tops” come form side branches.

Yes! Fellow Alberta! I didn’t know you were as well. Now we’re brothers. LMAO.

By the way @Jewels , I really like reading about your hydro invention, even though it was over my head.

I’m in soil right now, but the more I learn about hydro, the more interested I become. I’m thinking I might try growing in hand watered coco for my next run. I may even try setting up some kind of timed watering system. Dunno yet.

That looks like fun. Do you have a guess as to how long it will take to get to that configuration from where you're at now?

Hellllloooooo Fellow Growers!

Its now been a week since I did the first of three planned toppings on my plants and the new tops are only working on the second node. According to the write up(s) I’ve read regarding main lining, I need the new tops to be working on the fourth node so I can top them again at the third node. Getting to the eight mainlined tops may take a bit longer than anticipated. But what the fuck, I got the time.

I decided I’m going to try my hand at cloning and because I don't want any side branching, I decided to remove the side branches coming off the the first and third nodes. I left the side branches coming off the second node to develop a few more days before I take them for cuts.
This is them after the pruning.

What cloning method are you going with? Cloning is pretty easy if you don’t over think it. Plants are looking nice overall great job man. Generally after a topping the plant will almost stop growth for a day or two as a result of being stunted. I like to do my topping the day I water so that when they are back to making new growth I can water again they seem to take off good this way. But I can’t say it works any better than anything else for certain just things I’ve noticed over the years in my garden
