I build lights

So about 1600W over roughly 5'x6' or 30ft² = 53W/ft²? You must be running that beast over a bigger footprint than the light itself?
I ran it last run as you see it, wall to wall, wasn’t a good led conversion run, blasting it didn’t work lol. I will try it out again in a different room, bigger, doing another HID run right away in the meantime.

So it sounds like there isn't any dimming capability? It is indeed possible to build a light with too much output. I was concerned enough about not getting things just right to build my lights as individual modules that I could then mount with different spacing to address this issue.

Since each bar has its own driver it looks like you could easily spread them apart further to get the same effect.

Yeah they have a 1-10v dimmer, was too lazy to dimmer pot them all together, ran it prob 25% for the last month. Had a reveg event, light related somehow. I built the light to run at a high fixed position and to fit the room, I overkill most things. This current room is too small, I’m fixing up a 8x11 area to use that light in, prob a 6x6 footprint.

I could space the bars apart, it’s on steel L bracket like used in shelving, the strips are on aluminum, bolted to the steel, wiring it was brutal.

@Zaphod420 this is designed to give great bloom light at 30" over a 2x3' spot. 37.5W/ft², 225W at the wall, driver and all. Cree 3590 3500 Kelvin. 120 degree glass lenses.

To cover larger areas, just mount more of these about 2' apart...

You were running 4 or 8 off of one HLG-185H-700B?
It's 143 to 286volts output. Does running 4 (without a dimming pot) give you 1400mA?

I got ya, thought you had the 36 volt 3590's. I run Vero 29's, they are workhorses. I've never lost not one in going on 6 years running them.
But those damn Meanwells, I've lost 5 drivers in 6 years.
I like the 240-2100mA type A. I get over 300 watts out of each.
I like the 480-1400mA, they'll run 9 Veros 29's or 18 paired. 18 makes a nice spread.

Very nice! I'm looking to build a 240W light to cover a 2x4' space. I want to use strips, but it needs to be in the same efficiency class as quantum boards.
