I never eat the shit...but we did buy a shake a few months ago cus we wuz stoned. How much are McSick combo meals in your area? I was amazed to see most everything here is $9-13. I noticed recently that McSick has a banner out in front that they start @ $18 an hour. Wally World's says the same thing...with a bump to $21 if you wanna work nights. Our WM closes @ 11 so you'd not be dealing with the slugs. (just the corporate kind) I think those wages are pretty typical here. Jobs aren't plentiful though....and neither is housing. Rent is crazy expensive. Houses are crazy expensive.

Goin' to Hell, indeedy...

@NoWaistedSpace you want fast food people to make $20/hour, the restaraunt industry does this and it's advertized on bookface today. Questions?

Let me ask you this, out of necessity, or whatever reason, you take the McDonalds job,
and let's say, you are hired as a "maintenance technician", Start at $3.00 over minimum wage.
Sweet! Right?
Here's a little Saccharin booster for a more effective destruction to come.
You get "group" healthcare/Dental/eye etc with a 500.00 and up co pay.
Future opportunity for higher positions/ placement/rubbing elbows with "upper levels" staff.
A better life!
All you got to do is make it through the 60 or 90 day trial/probation period.
Easy peasy!
Right???
I will continue to the meat of the difference with unions later,
you wear me out sometimes @HAF.
But I like you're "10th man" way of coming at a question or statement.
You remind me of me, when I was your age.
5 or 6 years is a lot in your world past the age of 55.
I need a nap,
but time to run "security" for the "strippers" out tonight.

The entire point is whether or not YOU agreed to work for that wage at that place of employment. If you did you have nothing to bitch about. You took the damn job. Now you can do your burger maintenance for $3/hr with medical as agreed, or you can be like most hourly workers and fuck off after a few months because Wendy's offered you $3.25.

Why would I work for minimum plus 3.00?
My union package is closer to 50/hr total. Plus I get a pension and matched annuity.
but every worker deserves a fair wage to support their family.
And McDonalds can afford to pay their workers more money, along with Walmart.
When these companies claim they lost money, they didn't lose, they just didn't make as much as expected.
I wasn't the one that started the bitching about unions and minimum wage.
That's like the farthest ends of the spectrum.
I worked at Long John Silver's when I was 16, so I did my time in the fast food industry.
Wouldn't you know it, but it was about the same time as old Johnny Boone of Cornbread Mafia fame was suspected of laundering money through the LJS franchise. lol

Now the truth comes out. You are union. Obviously you have skills that are worth $50/hr. Like a Doctor or dentist or something.

$50/hr is a union bullshit thing. That income should be represented as a salary that doesn't depend on you punching a clock like a teenager. People making that pay in non-union jobs are usually the ones that stay late and help the company move forward. Committing their time over and above what an hourly wage commands because of the commitment the company has made to them.

These salary people are also the one that take off early on Friday if they can, but stay late on Tuesday to make up for it. You don't get anything like that from a union laborer.

As far as living wage - you can't understand that it's choices? If you had a business, would you pay your employees more just because you can? They don't have to earn it? Growing up in a mindset of "unions are God" - do you have a set of strike clothes? A hat that has "FYLO" on it? (Fuck Your Last Offer). Do you go on strike and not get a paycheck while the union plays their games with your life? My ex father-in-law is a union welder in Ohio. I hav heard all the skinny.

The other part to be factored in is that I could have retired anywhere I wanted. I would get the same pay each month but other places I might need to still work to pay the bills. It's about choices.

If you want to spend your time fighting to get more money for less work, there's where your effort is. If you spend that effort as an apprentice learning a trade, getting paid more with each thing you learn to do, then you progress. Eventually you have options.
tender on the boat don't make shit, the diver rakes in the cash!

But if he's smart that tender is learning the trade and will eventually be the one raking in the cash when the diver is retired
bad thing is that there more to being a tender than , makeing sure you diver is ready, be it rigging to lift a boat ,lines ready, pullies set, pumps checked on. a auto is the worst ,see things no 1 should see( a lot of em get out ,most times the older people don't make it) with the trunk lid in less than 20 ft.of water( just enough light to kinda see if it's not too muddy) . when you work for yourself, real help is hard to find , i did have 1 older feller who was on the ball. he was well paid ,pissed several of the local youngsters off , when they found out what i was paying him ,then they got a class in pullies and lines and started trying to act right, their money got better
