I'll definitely check that out, never seen that. I haven't watched Space Oddesy in ages, a lil Floyd can only make it betterYou need to check out "2001 Echoes" where it is the soundtrack for the last part of 2001 A Space Oddesy
It's just a clip the length of the song, But it's during that suck-ass part of the movie at the end where there were no words or anything anyway.I'll definitely check that out, never seen that. I haven't watched Space Oddesy in ages, a lil Floyd can only make it better

Not now
Anyone else into Kyuss?
Different strokes... I love em. Godfathers of Stoner Rock right thereNot now
Started out with promise - then shit went sideways.
I'm a stoner for decades. Never heard of them. They sound like Godsmack wannabees to me, but it's not fair to judge by one tune.Different strokes... I love em. Godfathers of Stoner Rock right there
They weren't they most well known band, but pioneered the early Stoner Rock/Sludge Rock sound in the early 90s. They never got huge commercially, but various members went on to form Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Them Crooked Vultures and influenced a ton of others. Even the guys in Tool have cited them as huge influence. Josh Homme was the guitarist/songwriter for Kyuss, then formed the much more successful Queens of the Stone Age, maybe you've heard their stuff.I'm a stoner for decades. Never heard of them. Hell yeah "stoner" is probably a common theme in everything I listen to from the Grateful Dead to Trip Hop. I learned to play guitar in the 90's as a teenager, so I think a lot of what I listen to and play qualifies as stoner music. Haha Queens of the Stoned Age I might say is like trip rock. They weren't they most well known band, but pioneered the early Stoner Rock/Sludge Rock sound in the early 90s. The Stoner Rock scene isn't very big, which is why I asked if anyone else was a fan. As far as sounding like Godsmack, they predate them by quite a bit, so if anything Godsmack sounds like Kyuss
I know what you mean. "Stoner Rock" as a label for the bands I'm talking about is kind of contentious as it is. Some bands don't like the term for that reason, most people hear "Stoner Rock" and could think anything from the Dead to Floyd to Zeppelin.Hell yeah "stoner" is probably a common theme in everything I listen to from the Grateful Dead to Trip Hop. Queens of the Stone Age. Not stoner rock. Not bad, but it is what it is. They were part of a succession of bands that were a step above one hit wonders, but completely pigeonholed in a time-frame of popularity. They weren't they most well known band, but pioneered the early Stoner Rock/Sludge Rock sound in the early 90s. Hmmmmmm. Common theme I think.Been playing guitar since 12 so I know how it can be trying to slap a lable on a music genre.
Makes no difference to me if they're mega stars or if no one but me has discovered them. I hear something I like, and it doesn't matter who the artist is. I've never owned a Def Lepperd recording, but I play this about once a month - 'cause I dig it.Def Leppard is a great example.
We had a garage band in high school. Free weed and poontang was the goal - nothing else. House parties and school battle of the bands bullshit. BUT we learned. You can play Zeppelin or Floyd all you want, as good as you can, and impress all the other aspiring bands out there - Whitesnake, Def Leppard, AC/DC got the girls to listenMakes no difference to me if they're mega stars or if no one but me has discovered them. Agree to disagree I suppose. I wouldn't put those 2 bands near QotSA in terms of genre or ability, but hey to each there own. I'm not gonna get into a debate about the term "Stoner Rock" , but I'll say that Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Desert Sessions, Sleep, Electric Wizard etc, are all in a genre that gets called "Stoner Rock". Not a great name since Stoners listen to all kinds of rock, but it is what it is.Queens of the Stone Age. Not stoner rock. Not bad, but it is what it is. Great music for stoners to listen to playlists at parties, but not true "sitting on the couch watching the cat play with something" music.
This was one of the groups from that 'era' that transcended a smidge beyond the second album
