I make oil sometimes...not so much as I quit cigs as I used to just love bottle tokes.
Now I smoke oil from vape pens and I usually only make honey oil.
Most my trim and not so strong pot gets make into butter or hash.
I like mixing hash and pot together for bong hits...make it extra special lol

I found destillation kit on ebay for $189 that should work to get distillate. Arrows point on reservour where buds are loaded , and at the end you getting distillate oil. Here is a video on youtube how to make distillate oil out of rosemary

Not sure you got a topical recipe or not all I read about was making carts.
This is how I make my topical cream.
1 oz. Good green. Can be trim or small bud. I decarb half of what ever I use. Everyone has their input so I go both ways.
3.5 cups coconut oil. I slow cook the buds in the coconut oil. Time is up to you I do an all day in an old slow cooker. Strain the oil thru cheesecloth or something similar.
1 cup olive oil in large saucepan on low heat.
1 cup beeswax mix into olive oil slowly letting it melt as you do you also start mixing in the coconut oil.
1 table spoon essential oil of your choice.
Jar, this will have a consistancy of lip balm but melts above 76 deg. F
