Moose is the biggest beast, next to bears that we have here.
That bull moose...we called him in and were in a tree stand. My brother in law was half indian (I an only 1/8th so i rely on machines)...anyway he could call a bull moose in a thunderstorm.
And he called this big bull moose. At the time i owned a ton of rifles but this day i had my Remington 700 in 35 Whelan with some hot handloads and bearclaw bullets We called it in and my legs got to shaking...it took a while to calm down in that tree stand...He could smell us...I didnt give him long and i calmed my shit down...took the safety off and got him in the heart lungs BOOM...It was within 50 feet and dropped like a stone.
I didnt mount it..that is not my thing. But when 6 guys get 200 pounds of moose each...well that is a pretty damned decent hunt.
After i stopped shaking we had to gut it...and quarter it and get it up 10 miles of river. So I like deer a lot too and you can get them closer to a road to put in your vehicle.
Exciting...you better believe it. The thing was HUGE...ready to bang a horny female...that is the call. Hey baby i am a moose in lingerie come get me..
My father in law bagged a 286 pound...gutted and dressed white tail deer up north too. And it was a gnarly 8 point older swamp buck.
That one needed tenderizing.
