So I foolishly tried brushing the snow away when I first brought them in and snapped one like a twig. The rest are inside now back on a heat mat thawing out... I actually think they will be just fine.

"hardening off" is gradually acclimating your plants to a new grow environment, not so much of a big deal for warm climates, but in colder climates where you start seedlings indoors in the spring before moving them outside you want to bring them outside for a few hours to get used to the cooler...
