Vegetable Gardens ??

Getting ready for the summer..........19 packs in the mailbox, some flowers also.

New this year for the garden is popcorn instead of sweet corn.
Lotsa tomatoes, lotsa garlic, lotsa cukes, lotsa greens also have an okra to try out. Who else is growing veggies?

I'll be rocking some out this year. Multiple peppers planned, tomatoes for the peppers, green onions, maybe some herbs. We always have caterpillars, slugs, and aphids. They destroy everything. I've already got garlic and onions in the ground. When do you start planting?

Last year was my first time growing anything besides weed. I’d like to grow fruits and veggies this year if I get some spare time to fuck with it. Kinda just let it go to shit last year. I used my leftover dirt from indoor grows and made raised beds

Generally after mothers day, but I have a cheap greenhouse to get them out of the house.
Got garlic, and strawberries already planted. Bugs suck....I have evolved into growing stuff that bugs don't destroy. Anything in the Broccoli family I purchase at the store..........those worms that eat them were apparently invented in my yard.

I got some "Max" pumpkin seeds to play with this year and a buncha flowers.

All my garden dirt has been only fed organically for the last 10 years..zero fertilizer. I went with manure and green manures and now I'm 100% green manure, cover crops and compost.

My kids and I built this little garden last spring. Just grew okra, bell peppers, jalapenos, yellow squash, one surprise pumpkin plant, and couple cherokee purple tomatoes and a row of super sweet corn.
Added 3 loads of horse shit
Dont have any pics from the summer but we had 9 ft tall okra and tomatoes out the wazoo lol until the pumpkin took over lol.
Now we have 2 gardens about same size, should be better this year if the weather will cooperate.

I totally forgot I have strawberries and Spearmint as well. That is great that you have your yard nice and prepared. I wish mine was. The previous owners didn't care for the property. There is just something about digging in dirt that I really enjoy.

I'm looking forward to getting some tomatoes and peppers going in a month or so. I picked up some chocolate habanero seeds last year, I'm wanting to run some this year...I should get those started indoors so they can take off outside.

I have some acorn squash seeds I want to plant a bit later when it's more consistently warm, early-mid may...my dog loves roasted squash.

I used to do acorns and butternuts but I found this produce farm and now I go during harvest season and it's 1 buck per squash. And they are huge. I load up every fall. Feed about half to the deer over the winter.

Cool, that's a good buy right there. I like seeing a garden bed full of giant squash leaves. Everything else I grow in containers or fabric bags...or buckets on nutrient water, outdoor hydroponics is cool.

I will be growing clones from my one "Amish Heirloom Tomato". lol

I would love to get my hands on some of those. I do ghost, habanero, jalapeno, Anaheim, and banana peppers every year and make my own hot sauces. This year I'm trying to kind of go heirloom with them and start from last year's seed. Good luck with them!

You literally cannot put a shovel in the ground without hitting a rock. Started to build a stone wall with everything I've dug up.

Baker Creek has damn near everything.....

We do the gahhhhhhden thing here as well. It's one of the reasons (and outdoor weed) we bought this place. The season is short....June to late September....so some things don;t have enough time....but tomatoes, peppers, asparagus (some is native), beets, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, lettuce., celery,green beans and more do well here if you give em ample water. Ya man, I can relate........I live on a rock cliff, just about any dirt I have, I bought. Been thru many shovels, lol. Taken many years too. Got rockwalls all over the place.
The expression "Dirt Cheap" is a misnomer, got the wallet scars to prove it.
