Let It Always Sow A Seed Of Memory

It is hard to price shop, when unable to make exact comparisons.
LED manufacturers lie. Plain and simple.
Your current led x2 is supposedly 600w?

This is all under a 400w MH. 5x5 room makes for 16 watts per square foot.

You are 5 square feet. With 600w , would be 120 w per sq foot.
I have 13 % of your illumination ?

I am not posting these photos for the purpose of wagging my junk around. I was going through your journal and watching the dates go by and the plants not blowing up.
I want you to do well, and I want to see that place full of bud.
Everybody eats their sandwich the same way. I am not doing anything differently than you are. I pour the water in the top, I say a little prayer and I see what happens,,, just like everybody else.
Many of us here are gardening for economy (and our own sanity ) the jars full at the end of the day certainly help.
I am not going to bash LED there is however a lot of misconceptions about them. HID light produces 98% heat and 2% light an LED is 30% better with only 70% going to heat. LEDs do not run cooler- they are simply achieving a lower temperature given less wattage.

Weed is hella exspensive, surely. Our houseold can go through an ounce a week , as well. That costs most folks between two or three Hundred bucks. Yet my electric only costs me 11.5 cent per kw- delivered.
I can run that light 24-7 for cheap
View attachment 43346
Here is the kicker. I bought four of those fixtures last week for $20. 4 bulbs 4 reflectors 4 ballast and 4 power cords - five bucks a unit.
My photos were taken less than a month apart.
Equipment and electricity grand total $35.
Depending on the price of your electricity you could run that light constantly for a year for less than $400
The way I see it: good luck finding a web link to an LED that will give you that kind of coverage for less than $400 -600. It would take a full year to pay for the unit,(price differential between units) and the electric savings are less than 100 per year.

I understand that this is entirely unsolicited; but, it is my attempt at Anonymous tough love. Support is nice, although, would you rather a 'supportive' shoulder to cry on, after a 30 gram harvest? or the kinda support that lights fire under your ass and gets you half a pound ?

Blow it up !
I only run the LEDs in the flower tents, I have MH in the veg areas , The pics You get from My journal are plants in the flower tent that are starting to bud up mostly .. I havnt harvested a plant in probably Years that I didn't get minimum 2 zips from, I run pretty lean on the nutes as well unless I get a hungry feeder . If You are paying 2-3 a zip You should PM Me .

well that's the going price around here..... and quality even at the high end leaves something to be desired.

I was thinking about 2 more qb's to replace my 1000w hps for summer since I could get away with not running the AC and letting the temps come up higher. Would be looking for 4x4 coverage which doesn't seem cheap so I'll have to keep turpman in mind!

Remember, we are elbow deep in weed to the point where we cant even smell it anymore.
When citizen karen got zero - they are going shopping.
I was just visiting a friend who manages a Albertan dispensary last night. Good weed is 15 a gram. That is over $400 per Z
Wanna get baked on edibles?
$100
Anyone , I mean anyone who goes and buys that sawdust corporate shit at a dispensary deserves to spend 400 a zip. I'll keep truckin with My ole way of things and my shitty growing techniques , funny thing is I never get complaints when I "gift" . and I get decent Yields for the space I allocate. Plenty better than Me , plenty worse.

Another great option is super cropping, and what id call mini cropping, it definitely produces noticeable differences in nug size for sure, I've done it a lot on my girls since I started, good reads on it over on growweedeasy, and ilgm, the mini cropping is something I tried out on my own I just pinch the branch till I feel it crunch a bit then move on to the next, it makes a little knuckle at that spot and what's above it takes Off.
So, i used your method on one of the plants tonight when i was doing a bit more bending. The smell was beautiful. I'll keep it updated. Took way more pressure than I imagined it would.

I'm not looking for a pat on the back. Any genuine help is appreciated. I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing specifically when it comes to lights. Hell, i ended up here after @Opie1 took some pity on me for all the janked advice I was getting on RIU.

So if you go to my first journal you will see I originally started outdoors with some bagseed. Almost 2 months later I realized I had fucked something up. They were barely 3 nodes tall. I finally thought i should get a light and bring them in due to the cold. I bought the first fucking light I saw on Amazon. I was amazed at how fast they started shooting up. Then i again realized the coverage wasn't working so I finally really dug in to some research. However, as I'm a one woman bank, I am buying it all piece by piece. I know it is long term gains so I'm going to keep going. If HID is a better solution, I'll go for it. I'm just at a loss of what to do. Your site is clearly much better than mine. Really, I'm glad these are better than my last batch. But i would like to do better.

You are correct on my wattage. I've got 2 300w LEDs. Ordering another tent this weekend to have a better control area.

And that is insane! For real? Never seen a dispensary unless you count the silver screen and I definitely don't. I used to have such better contacts but that is what happens when you move. What edibles are they selling to charge $100? Cannabis caviar?

I think that QB's will give you that WOW you are looking for. They are also easier to control the environment with (I think). They have no fans on them to blow heat around the tent. The heat rises unless you put too many fans blowing stuff around. All you need is a good exhaust (should already be part of your set up) and you are golden. Put an oscillating fan blowing over the tops and you're done.

Light bars or COBs are the same. Driver, light, heatsink. So it's about price really. I would stick with the name brands you have heard of. I don't want to sell HLG lights, it's just what I have. I bought one, liked it and bought more - a piece at a time like you're saying.

I messaged turpman but after looking at his thread it is a bit out of my price range. I believe they are worth every penny so I'm not trying to insult someone by haggling that badly. I've got time to figure it out I guess. Not like I have much of a choice. Lol.

Light bars as in strips? Aren't the same as COBs, they're more like sliced up QBs. QBs are like spread out COBs. COBs seem to have more penetration overall.

This is just an example. I have two of these (and a larger light that is basically like two of these on one heatsink) This will easily flower a 2x3 space and won't suck a lot of electricity. I had a 3x4 space lit with 2 of these and they were plenty.

The website (growers lights) is reputable with good support if you buy a kit. I know @Punisher84 has a Black Dog light and he likes it.

Your site is clearly much better than mine.
Bullshit.
You have air, water , light, and temperature,,,
Me too !
I harvested my first crop 8 months ago.
It can be intimidating to look at photos of all of these beautiful gardens, but remember, they are planting the same seeds you are, and breathing the same air.
Keep reading and question everything.
Good things come to you.

I guess I should have clarified. Space to space time to time, your site is much better. I make mistakes thinking I'm doing things right. Though i also know it is the learning curve. And it definitely it a bit intimidating but everyone started in my shoes. For the most part any way. I'm looking at some HID and HPS lighting today. If you ever have advice, please drop it by. I'm not here to be mollycoddled. I'm here to learn how to be a good grower and to put out some fire. Eventually i want to cross strains specific to my needs. That takes time and information.
My White widow is veeery hungry right now. I will snapa photo later.
Our bunny is a NL white. She is named Athena, and was just over 15 pound a few months ago.
She is a she? Man I'm sorry. I guessed boy. We almost adopted a rabbit a few months ago but our cat would have been pissed and I'm not sure who would have won that fight. That bunny looked angry.

And my White Widow is stupid thirsty. I moved her to a 1 gallon fabric pot but she still drinks more than any of my other plants. Here she is this morning. If love to see how yours looks. I did some training on her last night so some of that sideways looking growth is due to that.20200120_095831.jpg

It was sprouting so fast ( when fimmed) that the next three leaf sets all had rounded/ torn margins.

This is 'hungry'
See how the top leafs are pale, and 'limey'
They should correct, given proper food.

I have a 400 w HPS ballast that my older brother bought in '95. Still kick'n, it is lit (AF) right now.
I buy used.
Just see it light up before you cough out the bread.

LED are way more efficient but...that 1000 watt HPS. It works pretty darned great !...like crazy great. I mean if your tight for dough an HID gets it done really well. And if it is for personal you dont need to get 1.45 grams per watt you just want meds ! A 400 can get you close to a pound...315 CMH i got 15.5 oz when i just started out.

But i could get it done for less watts. But HPS means not caring about pruing so much because it goes in deep.

I will have trouble taking it out of the room actually. But spring means less heat in the bloom room. Back to boards over area !
