Feel free to chuck down advice whenever folks. Never grown without dirt. Just going by what I skimmed while half paying attention scrolling through you hydro guys’ journals searching for quality bud porn.
ive been thinking.. nothing ‘organic’ should go in that bucket. I feel maxi is so meth-like it will kill off any unwanted bioactive tomfoolery like root rot. I have absolutely no evidence of this. Only wishful thinking

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m more of an artist than a scientist. I grow nice buds but generally don’t trouble my simple mind with all the fancy booklearnin words and such. I keep it simple. For example, I can install an entire stereo system for ya in yer Oldsmobile but I couldn’t tell you how electricity works. I don’t need to know cause some guy showed me what wires go where and what’s what at 14 years old.
Don’t get me wrong, I ponder the mysteries of the universe and existence. Its just if something works, I don’t necessarily need to know why. Some folks do and I respect that. That’s the guy that showed me how to wire that first stereo I’d imagine. Thanks smart people.

changed out the solution. Put it in a jug to feed one of my other plants tomorrow. I feel as tho I should be keeping the roots clean and white. Going to let the roots settle in another day of two then she’s getting flipped. @850 ppms atm. Will toss a bit more maxi in to counter the ph swing and raise the ec when I flip. This hydro shit is addicting

Just drinking from the bottom. I was going to ask, should I leave the coco/peat in the pot completely dry? Or you figure I should wet it occasionally?

Seems to be doing well with however you are doing it, but I was under the impression that there was no top feeds etc with the Kratky. Im completely ignorant on the whole subject though so Im still learning from your posts.

If it were me, I’d continue running it how you are. Except every 2 weeks I’d give her straight water from above to flush any buildup in the medium.

The plant seems to be tuning for a bottom draw.
If it were exclusively drawing from below; the (moisture retaining) 'dirt' contained in the pot up top may not be full of the tender roots needed to make the water disappear.
I guess what I'm saying, is I would be afraid to make a muck ball - if there were no 'active' roots growing there, to drink it.

I could see the coty's , hanging in there, in all of your photo's.
In my limited experience if you really, really, really baby a plant, those first Coty leaves will always stick around. The first time a plant gets a dose of real life - they disappear.

Haha my old gromie who found that gummer but recently quit growing used to bug me for keeping coty s forever lol. I’m so random tho bro. Sometimes I snatch em off the second they yellow and sometimes I just leave em there. I sometimes worry about em fallin off and getting watered in. Not sure if it would be enough to have root rot but who knows. I’ve only had root rot once and i didn’t find it to be that great of a time.

She seems happy enough doing what you are currently doing.

She’s back to looking happy but looked rough yesterday. I did pinch it s top lightly and change out the res tho so that could be an adjustment. When I change res I just brew it up in seperate identicle bucket (after sterilization) and move the plant over. The plant I dumped the old bucket on didn’t seem to mind the hand me downs so that’s cool. Essentially this plant uses no water besides exactly what it drinks.

I'm just sexing a bunch of old school Indica's at the Mo.
and intend moving some males to the Kratky method
as a test.

On YT it best described as the Dangle Method?
simply cut a 3" hole in your clean Garbage Bin
drop in 4 inches of dwc juice
and close the lid

the bottom most roots do the suck and the rest get the air(in the bin)
just a big clone job really?

When I was in NFT I ran a line from the top until their roots were firmly down the NFT channel. Then I switched to solely down the channel. After a while I left the small top feeder lines in along with the larger channel line and noticed no difference. Hope that helps.

I also used chlorine as a disinfectant (Calcium Hypochlorite). It's less risk of burning, the plants need the Ca, it's about the best for organic bioburden.
