Why do outdoor and greenhouses use shade cloth during summers ? And yet they are lucky to get 16 hours of light at the summer solstice while we try to run 18+ for veg. I don't know of any grow lights putting out lumens/par coverage comparable to the sun, so maybe that's the difference? I've...

Been noticing some what I thought to be calmag. Found this thread with lots of good back and forth about the VPD, I'm starting to wrap my head around it a little more, I've been a little worried about this since it is winter now and humidity is really low
the seedlings just aren't as happy as I think they should be.
Been reading a lot and the VPD thread kind of makes a lot of sense.
the T5 2 foot 4 bulb light I have been using for years now for seedlings and I've never had "nutrient" problems when they are so small
Now I'm thinking the VPD and lack of Infared light in the quantum blue light may have more of an effect then I would have thought and honestly never thought about it until now, I now understand what people have been talking about with LED.
I'm still learning and am now wondering since that thread is a couple years old now it appears to me that almost all new LED lights have the Far red and Infared diodes. I am curious if it has been found out that the red light is needed to heat the leaf surface up, it seems so.
The soil mix was my first concern, I didn't use the straight mix on all of them just one PBN Profit and it looks the best so far, the comparison is just looking sad in the 50/50 so, of course I'm thinking what a mistake mixing it with the coco/perilite. now they show signs of nutrient deficiency.
Fed a 1/4 strength gaia mania, since the coco has no nutrients, I was thinking there should be enough from the soil blend to get them going in the small pots.
The Ambient temperature is pretty low 68-70 degrees with the LED, and the humidity is low 35-40%, I put a small Ultrasonic EO diffuser in the tent to boost the humidity, 65% with it running continuously, but the temp is still too low I believe, I also added a small CFL to see if it would help with the temp.
The T5 had the tent at 75, but they do stretch for the light more then the LED all the way dimmed.
Now I might hang the T5 back in there to see if they perk up in a couple days under that light.
What I'd really like to do is be able to use the sun during the day in a good window, but window space is all used up by houseplants haha.
