Sounds like you have some good stuff to use, simple is good. I can get a little carried away sometimes and ferment everything I think will help, if I don't use it or don't like it I just water it into my compost piles or my veggie gardens.
Comfrey I would like to plant in the future.
I planted 4 comfrey plants 2 springs ago pretty slow growing first year but they took off this year, stinging nettles is another good one to ferment it grows wild around here, joint grass is also supposed to supply plenty of silica... My compost pile gets all my junk as well...

How thick of a mulch layer do you top your pots with rice hulls and do you mix in the mulch layer in with the rootball when you reuse the soil?

Looking squared away as always amigo
I use a very thin layer if I have cover crops planted, maybe 1/4" but full coverage. In the small pots I put about an inch but not always new stuff. Before I transplant I loosen the reice hulls and dump them out to put back on top.

When I sift and re-mix the soil I'll do the same when I dump the harvested pots.add it in as needed for what feels right for consistency.

I got some Comfrey seeds from Alibaba. You have to soak them IN THE FRIDGE for two days before planting... I got about 50% germ, and had a dozen plants I scattered around my property to see where it took. I have 4 plants still alive and got enough to do a quart of ferment - plenty. Next year should tell which ones make it and thrive.

Soooooo, I have been putting off night-stuff in the tents because I have been doing day-stuff outside. I decided to go full nocturnal for a few to get stuff done. This shelf had pots that needed sifted on it, now I have room for window-sill plants. These were outside so I repotted everything using my inside soil before bringing it in. The turmeric came from Baker Creek and I think I'll be harvesting one and growing the other. One of the aloe had a pup I just plucked off and potted. Already had a mass of roots.

Some of these can go window-sill easy if I need room. The mini watermelon-cucumber is going mad.
IMG_2942.JPG
these tomatoes apparently work without pollinators
IMG_2945.JPG
all three toothache plants are starting to bloom, and the strawberr has started pumping out new growth.

I'm most excited about the WASABI! These came as freebie seeds with an order and I will be getting more. They are short stubby radishes, but I can un-roll the pot and add soil if needed. I started some outside too. Tomorrow is beets and carrots.

On the weed front here's the clone set-up. I hate heat mats, but know I need it so I have it under a 10/20 tray as a buffer. I am trying somethhing new, and if it works I'll have an easy cloning method going foreward. I just took new coco and added about 1/3 fresh castings. I added Mike O'riza to the mix ;) and then did all the recommended stuff - at a node, shaved in spots, rooting hormone powder then gel. then I just jammed it in. The coco mix was soaked, then pressed lightly in a dish towel to make sure there wasn't any excess. I have the clear inner cups so I can check progress.

I should see roots within a few weeks, and I'll be ready to 12/12 the moms along with the rest of the chuck. cull the males and let the girls catch some. The two mini-clones are the 3-toed node sprouts off the ChemD that I would have trashed anyway. If they root then I have options. Probably flip the clones to catch pollen and let the mom be a monster in veg if needed. I want smoke and a new mom, so the more clones the better. another sea of green will be fun.

At this point, the Milk and Sugar is a conundrum. Almost no stem growth. It's like those dudes you see with no neck, and as far as I know it is a reg. I am thinking I don't really want to mess with it, no matter how special or wierd. But I can flip it and if it's a girl any beans will have those genetics and maybe a little more stretch. Main part of that is I don't have to worry about the thing any more.

I haven't seen turmeric in baker creek, I'm going to have to look through that again. When its ready try making a turmeric bug/ ale living soda pop tonic its really good and fun to make.

Nettles is one of my favorites to use it grows wild here too, I've been hesitant of planting comfrey, bocking 99 I think is the variety it is supposed to be sterile but I've never ordered it. I guess I could just plant it by the nettle patch.
The Bocking 14 is what you want, you buy root cuttings to get it started.
One of the best bioaccumulators available.
I planted 6 plants a few years back, used them exclusively for top dressing my raised beds and building up my compost bin.
First year only got 2 full cuttings after that each year produced bigger plants.
I was getting 4 to 5 cuttings a season. Each harvest would fill a 30 gal trash bin.

The seeds I have are the same breed. Its just easier with cuttings. It's not like it's a clone-only LOL. All comfrey does th esame thing. I think with that cutting it may be made sterile? Have you gotten flowers/seeds from it?

I think it's seasonal. Do a "wishlist" and add it, when it's available you can get a notification. Right now they are on flower bulbs. But they sell ginger root and others. Berry plants seasonally, etc.

If you search for a specific item from Baker Creek you might find it even if it's not in their regular "scroll-through" selections. I think they only list so much. I have their catelog coming this month and it should have lots not listed on the site that you have to know about to look for. Kind of a neat marketing gig they have going.

I believe the bocking 14 is sterile, though not sure.
They produce beautiful blue/purple flowers, I would chop them at that point.

Just now found this...

Is Bocking 14 invasive?
Comfrey also self-seeds. Between the self-seeding and root regrowth, comfrey can become invasive. There is a sterile species of comfrey, Symphytum x uplandicum 'Bocking 14', which eliminates the self-seeding problem in the garden. Comfrey is a very fast growing plant.

Well, I have property and a mower. Right now my invasive species are not worth a damn. I don't have flower beds, I have acreage.

Sweet I will pay more attention, I flip through their catalog in the winter quite often. Always finding new stuff haha
Are they seeds or rhizome from them?
I have grown ginger before just from planting a piece from a health food store it took a long time to grow enough to use it but It was just being a houseplant I didn't have it under lights.
Did you by chance get the bocking 14 from baker creek?
edit:
Alibaba you mentioned before?

After the shit news about CLG I'm re-thinking the chuck ride-alongs. Since my County Line packs are all now classics, one-off's, never to be made again I will not be popping one or three to catch pollen. Each retail and tester pack will be a mom-hunt to make sure I don't miss anything. Several may end up being their own open pollinations if this chuck goes halfway decent.

The 3 Step Child and the 2 CLHP are 4 weeks. I'm going to pick one CLHP to veg longer with my Chems and one to flip with the three regs. I have plenty of CLHP to grow out so that's the one I was still planning on making seeds. I'm gonna make a LOT 😜

That means the flipping CLHP can get an up-pot, along with the three Iries. If the last one ends up male I'll yank it and probably end up with a Step Child in there.

I don't care about the Step Child making beans. I want to flower a girl out for smoke, but it will be my test plant to see if I can keep something on one end of the house safe from pollen at the other end. If I get two girls then one can make beans on purpose.
