Hey @High kev What's the school solution in your neck of the woods. My kids are out of school, but it appears they offer a choice
1) your kid stays home and learns off the computer
2) Your kid goes to school and sits in one room all day while the teachers rotate. No lunch or activities, abbreviated day
And they are planning to run both systems but you make a choice and have to stick with it, can't change mid stream.
Seems totally fucked up.

In Ontario the school system is a choice of in school or at home. My kid has to have a teacher because it gets all confrontational up in here..

But i think the bigger situation will be teachers union pushback...and does our government declare them an essential service to squash their strike ability...they should because they are essential.
Its a fucked situation for sure but these kids are our future doctors and teachers and Russia and Whoever are wrong...there is no vaccine and you wont see one for some time so we have to get with the education plan.
Teaching is different here. In Ontario a teacher with 10 years tenure makes just over 82000 a year. A labor job would be about half that and a min wage job 1/3. It is a great job contrary to the immense bitching you hear at contract time.

I would hope that all of the socialism hating freedom fighters do not receive that payment or turn it in for the betterment of something not socalist???

Silly man. It isn't Socialism if THEY get a check. It's only Socialism when the Libs (and illeguls) get checks.
It's still socialism either way, but why would anyone give up the check when they are also paying out the ass in taxes for social programs? It's stupid to deny one side of the program when you can't deny the side that requires you to pay into it.

There will never be a vaccine. The disease will simply mutate. Into what is the question.
You only get a check if you filed taxes. You only get the extended unemplyment if you got laid off and qualified. Folks that don't have a work history, self employed, sub contractors etc get zip. Anyone looking for a job at the time of layoff gets zip, anyone who recently completed their UE stint prior to pandemic get zip. I'm sure there's more.

Equty and equality are not the same...and we try to be as equitable as possible as a country...because we really dont care...for example if there were a black woman running for the PM job even if we had 8 years of black leadership (whatever the fuck that means...other than some racist shit).
I worked my whole life...worked my ass off for 35...put my money in solid investments and became a millionaire.....but it took 12 percent of my salary put away for life...and you know what i dont need a handout...from my gov.
Give that shit to someone that needs it....

When I made that comment I was saying it from my own perspective...someone who makes a decent wage but can barely afford to put any money aside for savings or investments. I was in the negative for years (way behind on property taxes) and finally pulled myself out of it last year. If I get a check from the govt, even if I don't agree with the reasoning behind it, I'm keeping it. Most of what I put away each year goes away when tax season comes, because I usually owe around $4,000 in taxes at the end of each year, due to my wife working through a 1099. In the US it is the middle class that is really getting screwed over. The lower class gets more benefits, and basically free healthcare, while the middle class is just scraping by to get their bills paid.
