Charlie's Northern Lights Grow

Opie1

Master Grower
Today is the last day of the 5th week of veg (day 49 since sprout).
Ok, so nothing has been done with the plants this week other than watering and a dose of compost tea (1L to each plant at full dose). I will probably do some pruning this weekend and, based on how much they've grown over the last week, I will probably flip them into flower very soon. The plants have been demanding a shitload of water this week, about 1.5L each per day, compared to 1/2L per day last week.

How much longer are you gonna veg these?
Do you have another tent? They’re gonna fill up that one.

I’m probably going to flip them this weekend. They can all be pulled down some and I’m going to pull them all down to the same canopy height this weekend. I still have a ton over vertical space available though.

The plants had a lot more growth over the last 24 hours so I lollipopped them all and flipped them into flower this morning, raised the lights, and ramped them up to 100%. I have their last batch of compost tea made from the vegetation fertilizer brewing right now and will start going with a 50/50 mix of vegetation and flower fertilizer next week, for probably 2 weeks, before going to strictly the flower blend.

Day 8 of Flower (57 days since sprout)
Plants each got 1L of compost tea made from 1tbsp/gal Veg fert, 1tbsp/gal Flower fert, and 3mL/gal molasses brewed for 24 hours. Plant #1 seems to be the runt of the pack. She's growing but is way behind the rest in the height department. Today I removed any branches that haven't made it to the top of the canopy and all bud sites below the top 8-10 inches of the plants. I usually go too light on the lower bud site removal, and wind up with a lot of lower larf, so I'm trying to be more aggressive with this grow to see what type of difference it makes. The aroma is getting stronger and the plants smell wonderful. Water consumption is continuing to rise with the stretch into flower.

All 4 plants from the top. You can really see how much shorter plant #1 is in this picture

Day 15 of Flower (64 days since sprout)
Plants each got 1L of compost tea made from 1tbsp/gal Flower fertilizer, and 3mL/gal molasses brewed for 24 hours. The plants have stretched a bit over the last week so I've had to raise the lights about 12" to compensate. I'm running them a little closer than I normally do in hopes that it will cause the branches that are closer to slow down their stretch and maybe help the shorter plant catch up a little. All of the plants look very healthy and the flowers are coming in nicely. All 4 plants will receive a top dressing of flower fertilizer tomorrow and I will also go through the plants and remove any lower bud sites that have sprouted over the last week.

You make a really good sales pitch for those blumats. Damn.
They can take some time to get setup properly, when you first put them into the soil, but then all you have to do is top off the reservoir when it gets low. I can’t see myself ever going back to hand watering in this tent and have been thinking about getting more for my small tent. They make things so much easier and save so much time.

Have you considered putting some blocks under the shorter plant(s) to even out the canopy with the tallest plant?
I haven’t thought of that, to be honest, but that’s a good idea. I’ll have to try that out later today and there should be enough slack on the water lines for that to work. It is slowly been catching up so I was just hoping it would tighten the gap before the stretch was finished.
