    Gelato x Cherry Pie

I was not reading Ed or Jorge back then. I think I read that in something called The Journal of Ethnobotany. I was also browsing a DEA periodical and the UN Bulletin on Narcotics for tips that were not in High Times. I was lucky to be living next to a university with decent libraries.

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

13 hours because I read an article in some scholarly journal c. 1983 that said the extra hour leads to a measurable increase in THC production. Sorry I can’t give a citation. I have always used a 13-hour cycle to flower.

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

Hybrids have been on a 13-hour daylight schedule since roughly mid-October and my wife thinks that one of them already looks ready to harvest but we decided to let them run longer. Hopefully they will be done before New Year. The flowers are getting frosty and smell like some kind of...

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

I also had a spider mite outbreak in my grow area! I decided not to resort to a No Pest Strip this time. I ordered some predatory mites. I even used a mini vac to vacuum the fan leaves, just to harass the SOBs. And I sprayed everything with spinosad, insecticidal soap or neem. According to what...

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

Update: I got four females and two males. These are the four sisters. I took this picture a couple days ago. The plants have been on a 13-hour-day light cycle since mid-October.

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

I add alfalfa meal and use Miracle Gro, plus something called High Tide occasionally. I feed them Alaska Morbloom for flowering. Also I treat the water with phosphoric acid aka pH Down.

Sunshine Mix 4 with some perlite added.

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

No, they are just homegrown hybrids. I am planning to start using colloidal silver soon, however, for pollen and feminized seeds.

    Gelato x Cherry Pie

I was surprised how indica the seedlings look. My wife said they look like strawberry plants if you are standing over them. The plants are just over a month old now.

    Hola from Disneyland!r

Update: My wife has been testing McCoy on her migraines and she says it works better than GDP, which is the most reliable strain we ever found before we bred McCoy. I am trying to make sure I have enough clones to keep the line going for a while.

Bought 5 gallons of 100 percent ethanol

Also, slightly injured my hand trying to twist off the cap. I put some of my homemade infused coconut oil on it and it stopped hurting. Your mileage may vary.

Bought 5 gallons of 100 percent ethanol

My wife makes a crude extract from decarbed trim and “Volcano poo” that we can drink. It has about as much ethanol as a dose of NyQuil. It might be what some call Green Dragon but we call it Cannabis Elixir or California Medicine.

Bought 5 gallons of 100 percent ethanol

We just wanted to save a few bucks by purchasing in bulk but now it feels like I am on a slippery slope to Breaking Bad. Hardest part is getting the screw cap off. Had to use a “universal wrench” and put a hot compress out of the microwave on it just to loosen.

    Hola from Disneyland!r

Two clones I am running now: a Gelato from a feminized freebie seed that I got from a seed supplier on left and one of my own creations that I call Dr. McCoy (Short Stuff Dr. Feelgood X MTG Godfather Purps). I have seen growers complaining about being “disappointed” with Gelato but my only...

How does a plant respond if only 1% (or fewer) of its flowers pollinated?

That’s more or less what I expected. It would probably take a hefty research grant and expensive academic infrastructure to know for certain. Probably not worth the expense and effort. Thanks.

How does a plant respond if only 1% (or fewer) of its flowers pollinated?

My guess is that somehow the plant “knows” that it is “pregnant.” Chemical processes are being triggered and signals would be sent to other parts of the plant if a flower gets pollinated, I am thinking, but does it make a big difference for the average grower?

How does a plant respond if only 1% (or fewer) of its flowers pollinated?

My wife and I are wondering how it affects a plant if only a few of its pistils are pollinated. Does it cause the plant to finish flowering sooner? Does it affect the potency of the unpollinated buds? Will the plant stretch or stop getting taller? Does anyone even know?

    What about unrooted cuttings?

Yes I learned the hard way that cuttings can get steam-cooked in the mail. It was a sad day for horticulture. 😢

    What about unrooted cuttings?

Glad to hear that. I fear I would mess up a clone and make an enemy of whoever I give it to.

    What about unrooted cuttings?

Are they easier to ship or mail? What percentage can be expected to root for the recipient? I admit I am lazy and would prefer just to give people cuttings rather than clones. Obviously the cuttings would need special packaging to keep them from drying out or overheating.
