Whew.....glad that part of this remodel thing is over. This side of the wall is done....other than sitting the W/D in place and hooking em up and building a partition wall between the "mechanical room" (LOL) and "Laundry room"{LOL) and hanging a new cabinet on the back wall. Amazingly (knock on weed) everything fired right up. Have a new pump relay box coming...couldn't find one here in Podunk even theouh there must be 1000 wells here in "town" alone....not including the 2 county region we are a part of. At least I can order one online and put it in myself.

Tile guy is here ...concrete board is up...and the lovely smell of redguard is whaffing through the house. Still a buncha stuff left to do but...um....we are getting there....albeit slowly.

It was crazy how BRIITLE all of that pvc was. We were damn lucky we didn't have a flood....

Cpvc is horrible about breaking when you look at it much less touch it. Nice to see an expansion tank with the water heater. Not sure why but no one here wants to put them on.

It was crazy brittle stuff. We just grabbed onto it and gave a small yank and it snapped into peices.

I think the expansion tank is code here....but I'm not sure cus we flew under the radar. The plumber guy insisted on it....and I';ve had one previously and agreed because i know it really helps here where Wintertime water temps coming in from the well can be in the 40's. That's why we didn't do an "on demand" water heat system. Would save $$$ if it worked here but with only a 40-50 degree rise in temp above what comes in....showering wouldn't be much fun. We're all electric so I bought the highest efficiency rated electric unit I could find. Won't save me any $$$ over what I have now but we'll heat 2X the water for the same cost and can actually take nice long showers/not run out of water all the time.

Curious what kind of relay you are getting? I have a BW that hums pretty loud, wondering if there is a digital replacement?

I'm getting an upgraded/like version of what I already have. They are sized to the pump you have/etc... so I just found the exact specs on a new box and ordered it up. I was tempted to investigate/try one of the new digi/smart pressure switches that adjusts pressures/etc automatically and supposedly gives a more city-like pressure experience vs. the typical up/down flow of a regular pressure switch.....but the plumber was pretty straight forward and wanted to just get 'er done so I didn't upset the cart/toss that kinda newness into the mix.

Here’s one reason I need an expansion tank ha. When I turned water on after complete remodel like half the braided lines going to the toilets and sinks leaked. Figured out why, had to add a regulator just past this gauge. Not sure how much pressure there is but the hydrants between the house and the street hookup will blow up most any garden hose.

well over 100psi from the street

I actually think an expansion tank is needed when the municipal water supply has a check valve at the meter typically. All houses should have one just as a standard practice.

Ah, different component. The bw is a pump monitor that shuts down the pump when well is dry. Guessing its similar to whats in that blue box on the wall.

I looked those B/W controls up. Nothing like that needed here. No worry about the well goin dry. Mine's 160 ft deep/6 gallons a minute. The idle well on my property below (drilled in '85, pump never set) pushes 12 gpm because it sits on a small curve by the creek. Only 60 ft. deep. How deep is your well/how much water is in the casing? There are very shallow historic "wells" here because we are so close to the creek/groundwater table. Some of them.....less than 12 ft deep... went dry 2 Summers ago. Glad I have a real well!

Damn @Punisher84 ....that's some whoppin pressure. Regulator? Is it a PRV??? (pressure reducing valve)? Looks like a lirttle brass bell usually with a bolt on top you can screw up/down.....or a longer brass unit that looks kinda futuristic. Controls high pressures/can be set to a specific pressure. Here in WellLand we don't have those issues....but I used to put a lot of em in when I was doing sprinkler systems in residential homes.

Expansion tanks here are for the super cold water we have coming in that expands as it's heated. Without the tank...all of that pressure is (building) inside the water heater. These tanks are like mini well pressure tanks except the "bladder" is on the top vs. the bottom.

Tile guy got most of the shower done yesterday. Coming back today to do a few finishing cuts and to grout it all. Hopin to start puttin on the trim kit/etc tomorrow so we can possibly get a shower...LOL. Floor will come later...I still have to insulate and put down new plywood and build a "pony wall" by the shitter. Still a fuck ton of stuff to do.......you know the drill...LOL.

Yeah pressure reducing valve. That’s the word. Mines a Honeywell valve. Green knob on it. Has a gauge on it as well that reads outgoing pressure.

Hydrant out at the garage I have a 3/4” hose on and a fire hose style nozzle. Great for washing muddy stuff off. Sprinklers work real good on that lol. No water conservation happening out of that hydrant.

defoliated the hydro room a tad, will give the other girls a trim up today as well. 2 out of 6 dynoberry bites have sprouted tails already, will give the rest another day or so and see if they pop. Another few weeks of waiting.

Pressure or an expansion tank is basically pressure storage device when used on a well. If you don’t use one, or your bladder breaks, your pressure switch would cycle on off on off rapidly while using low flows of water.
The pressure switch has a cut in and cut out setting, say cut out at 50psi cut in at 20. They are adjustable.
Saves wear on your motor and contacts.

Over 300ft deep, averaged over 6gpm and about 2000 gallons before going dry durring well test. I think it was originally drilled with plans to use for irrigation.
