My Bagseed Experiment

I assume you want smoke, not seeds? After you put them on a 12/12 light schedule, in roughly a week they should start to show sex. If they are males you are done. If one is male, it is done or the other one is going to make seeds.

You can start your seeds whenever you want, but I would hold off until you feel comfortable. It should only take a few weeks to get into a routine and learn more about how they grow, and what happens after you prune or train them.

I would flip them to 12/12 as soon as you have all your gear in place nutes, tent, ventilation whatever. When you flip they will start growing like a weed ;) at a minimum they should get twice the height they are at flip. Some strains more. The longer you wait, the more height you get at the end. But when they are growing quick you can really see results of the stuff you do (good and bad)
I'm setting up the tent and all Tuesday night. I ordered all of it at once so I'll have nutes, light timer, new leds, and etc then. My husband and I should have it all ready by Wednesday so i will flip them then.

If they are males do i need to clean my tent before putting new ones in?

And I appreciate all of your help for real. We are stoners but neither of us have experience with them. My husband thinks I baby them too much but ya know. They are my babies. And right now I'm just going for buds. Not going to try for seeds if I'm just going to give them weak genetics. When i get a couple of harvests under my belt I'll try creating my own seeds.

And weed will grow like a weed? What the f*ck and why did no one ever tell me?! 😂

No problem - I'm just the first one to "latch on" to you LOL I was bored and checking out the welcome thread. Everyone on here is real helpful.

No cleaning needed unless you let them go until they make pollen. We'll catch it before that.
I appreciate your boredom as it has been to my benefit. And if I have the same set of people helping me I can get consistent advice and not have to re-explain everything I've done to get said advice. That will save time.
I'll keep steady posting like I have been and maybe we can all celebrate when i actually harvest something.

So I just picked up all of my stuff. Trying to figure of which of the 3 step fertilizer to use. I'm guessing the grow big. The NPK ratios for all 3 are as follows: GB is 6-4-4, BB is 0-0.5-0.7, and TB is 2-8-4. Any help?

Also, my boss gave me a couple of bags of soil conditioner when i picked my stuff up. Any idea what it is and if i should use it when my seeds come in?

Also, it is a pain in the ass to set this light timer. Jesus. Lol.

There is a "schedule" for soil growing, and it will list stuff you don't have - don't sweat it. This is what you should use 25% of.

Also, learn about your water. If you are using tap, know what's in it. Cal-mag is a staple to have on hand to supplement water with stuff plants frequently lack from another source.
Read read read :)

Not sure on that soil you have (no expert on that stuff) but know that like everything else there are soils specifically geared towards growing weed. pH balanced, with microbes and nutrients and such. The main thing for an unknown soil is to search for "timed release" fertilizer of some sort. Great for tomatoes, crap for MJ. It will release just what your plant doesn't need exactly when your plant doesn't need it :)

I haven't heard gypsum mentioned much for a soil additive for this, but I'm not the one to ask. @J.James posted several articles on here about the basics of growing, including soil additives under the "Organic Growing" part of the forum

Since my boss has been nice enough to order my stuff for me and have it delivered to her house, I figured I would take it so I'm not insulting her. I'll just use it for my garden. I'm using garden magic potting soil. From my understanding there are no added time release fertilizers in it.

I also use distilled water. From what I gathered that is the best option and I have access to tons of it through my favorite job. We are going to assemble the tent in the AM. I also got a 300W Viparspectra reflector series LED.

Thank you @H.A.F. for popping up with the quickness again.

Screw waiting for morning. Finally got my tent setup going and my new lights up. Thank god my husband loves dismantling and setting shit up. It seemed easy enough to put the tent together but that was the most excited he has been since I've started this process and he smokes way more bud than I do.

Anyway. Gave them their first little spot of fertilizer. Quarter strength of Fox Farm Big Bloom. I hope it was enough. My new light is definitely stronger than my old one.

We checked the tent for light leakage and only found 1 small spot where the cords run in to the tent. I've pulled it tight but still a bit of light. Not sure what to do to block that up.

Also set my timer but I'm not sure I did it correctly. The lights should be off now but they are still on. I'm thinking I may have gotten it backwards. Testing that in 8 minutes as I set them to be off from 2pm until 2am to make sure i can check them each day. 20191127_012258.jpg20191127_013416.jpg20191127_013422.jpg

So I checked and my timer is not right. I have it on auto on with off times between 2pm to 2am. I thought maybe I had gotten it backwards but nope. It was still on when i checked after 2. I will keep fiddling with it tomorrow. For now, my plants are having a light at the end of the tunnel moment with all the light they are getting right now. It'd be like putting my pale ass in a tanning bed. Between that and the nutes they should be perking up tomorrow. We will see.

You need to use the Grow Big during the vegetative stage, the Big Bloom for flowering.
Also most of the potting mixes like the stuff at Wally World hold too much moisture and you’ll end up drowning your plants. MJ likes an airy mix, if you could find something like Promix it would work great for you.

The one I use is from my local garden center. I try to avoid walmart as much as possible. However, clearly I am not a genius when it comes to guessing I am making the right decision, explicitly by my plants.
Can I order that online? Not a lot of variety where I am.

So I topped my deformed plant today and took a picture of the leaves. The research I have been doing seems to indicate this is a nitrogen deficiency. Can anybody give me a second opinion?

Also, I guess I figured my timer out as the lights cut out right at 2. I heard the fan kick off.

I would keep the ventilation on. I have a power strip with a timer plugged in to it. Only the lights are on a timer, and occasionally a extra fan that comes on with the lights. Most ventilation stays on 24/7.

Will fix that. Also, I'm putting a thermometer in the tent but at what level should I put it? At the top where heat rises? Level with the lights? Or par with the plants?

And I'm ordering ocean forest soil but i hear it is bad for seedlings due to the nutrients. If I use the rapid rooter starter pods can I put those in that soil after they develop a root system? I've also ordered some 5 gallon fabric smart pots to put them in so is that a good way to go about it when my fem seeds get here?

usually it's the top of the plants

That soil is fine, but yes it is "hot". If you wanted to get a small bag of their Happy Frog soil or something else not as charged, you could mix them and be a little safer. All sounds good plan-wise. Just go light on feeding in the new soil when you transplant. Wait for them to ask for it.
