Dry sifting to make some hash

I think the silk was a square meter. I used as much as i could so its about 3 feet x 11 ish.
It would probly do a couple pounds. The tiney motor is the limiting factor. It dosent take many revolutions. So a hand crank would be fine. First time i filled it i lost some. The tricombs were falling through as i was filling.
A hand crank may warm up the body a bit. Its chilly working in -10 LoL.

I may try a vibratory sieve maybe for the second pass through a finer screen. 5 gallon pail cut off with a screen on one end. I have a vibratory brass cleaner for reloading rounds that could be moded or copied.

Good to know about the loose bud phenos. I had a couple AC x a-dub that had a faily loose flower. My GH has a double layer and probly contributes to a little loosness. I did clone the third thighter bud one and the buds did tighten up quite abit inside under led this winter.

I think the spinning sifter is a cool idea for bulk, there are some out there already that look like yours inside a small tote to contain the kief.
I thought about trying to make one and I came up with these notes

A tub small enough to fit in the fridge, cage small enough to fit in the tote.
self-contained and battery operated so you can shut the fridge ;)
You stick a rechargeable battery in the motor apparatus and let it run the batteries out.
Maybe convert a crisper drawer that's deep enough.
200-250-ish micron just to get the bulk work done.
Small batch but zero effort except cleaning out the bin.

I think the motor i used was like 12 beans on amazon. 110v gear reduction. 50ish rpm. Seriously after about 10 turns you start getting green material only. I was thinking the same thing turn for 20 min or so, but it happens fast. Never tought of artificial cooling good idea. A freezer would work well.

There is good resin inside the buds, but unless your buds are airy (lots of hash strains are bred for this) there are no real trichomes to wash off anyway.

All the stuff grows smooshed together and nothing you can do will get a trichome to wash or sift off of it. Great smoke, bad for hash, and the process won't change that.

IF the buds are airy, it will both wash and sift fine without blades.
Which hashplant strains are bred to be airy?

Am only doing small amounts so figured would give another go. Every things frozen. Used small tub and cut panty hose stocking to fix and put some frozen trim in and put back massager on it. Well was to much noise for the old lady to not stop complaining when put in the fridge. But working ok so far on cold hard garage floor0DFD8FC4-DEB6-489F-B671-A7555C48B263.jpeg401E99AB-E1C8-4E02-ADAF-ADCF15076E17.jpeg

I think next round I maybe able to get none or very little green. Depends a lot on how long you shift it. Maybe others here now how long would you shift you runs. But that saying a little goes a long way doesn’t apply to weed making into hash or rosin.

I don’t grow enough to jump to bubble hash. Watched frenchy video yesterday and hard to choke on what he only got from 1lb. Plus hard to want to add water to weed cause I know what happened to my weed when I was a teenager and mom washed my jeans with it in my pocket still.

Don't get me wrong, I love DIY and building stuff, but bubble bags are so cheap, not sure why everyone is reinventing the wheel here.
think he may just been referring to us that maybe doesn’t wanna spend some money to try it out first with just ordinary things around the house. Spent an hour just looking for what I never found but wanted like something like a flat scraper but not plastic but stainless steel. Almost like a min spatula but had to settle for a butter knife
