Anywhooooo onto the other part of the news...

This is bad and I’m not going to post photos so please don’t ask. I was clearing out some boxes I had stored in the spare room to fit the new AC unit in and there is a little closet at the back of the room that I had some clothes in so I figured I’d grab some out. Anywaysssss I open the door and there is fucking black mould everywhere! I ran to the store to get some spray and got that on. I’m going to be stripping the drywall and carpet and spraying the studs down tomorrow morning, my dad is coming to help thank god! It looks like it started in the back corner, which is also the corner of the house where there is a drain pipe so I’m thinking we might have a problem in the foundation? 🤷‍♀️ It’s about the bottom 14” of a 2x3 closet and going up the back affected corner a bit more. I took the door right off and threw it in the trash pile and brought everything that was in there outside. I’m going to be soaking the few clothes I really want to keep in vinegar and then washing them, but I don’t plan on keeping many at all. And all precautions were taken and will be taken during the process tomorrow.

Anyways, I’m looking at this as very good news overall because once I get this cleared out everything is going to be silky smooth! I feel like an idiot but I also am pretty sure I didn’t cause it, I just should have had access to the closet. But I’m feeling really good that the next run is going to be perfect now! Wish me luck ✌

See the pattern here....while this fucking sucks you gotta go through it....at least you discovered it before even bigger problems. Black mold can be fatal for humans and animals if not addressed the correct way.

When I was younger...maybe 5 or 6 years old. My parents rented a house that had always taken water with heavy rain. Basement used to take like 2-3 inches throughout the entire basement. Anyways...my dad used to get sick ALOT. Turns out, when he was working in the basement where his tools were he would always breathe in the spores etc from behind the drywall. He tore a wall down one day on the 2nd floor and noticed the mold went up the entire side of the house. We moved a few days later..

It might be worth hiring someone to deal with the mold for the peace of mind. A condo I rented out had mold in the walls going up about 3 feet from a leaking drain pipe in the unit above. They had to strip the walls, dry everything out, then spray it with mold killer multiple times over the course of a week or two. They told me that it will come back unless you take the time to make sure it is all gone.

Oh yes, if it comes to that I won’t hesitate. Thanks for the kind words buddy :) I’ll let you guys know how the closet looks tomorrow after my Dad and I have a good go at it.

Oh for sure! I ripped up the drywall, the baseboards, and the carpet in the little closet. No signs of anything through the moisture barrier so that’s a plus. Gonna be spraying and wiping until I feel I could eat in there, so forever.

Just dont want to see you lose anything. Likewise, at least you got it taken care of. Ever think of just building a room in the room instead of a tent?
