Cobs

PICK YOUR OWN
Soooo. Question to Cob and/or QB people. I have 4 HLG 65 watt boards which is giving me 260 watts of led. I have 2 x Timber Grow light daisies pumping out 100 each. So I'm running 460 watts in a 3x3 which is plenty. However , here's the rub... the cobs have way more light penetration but do you think it would make a huge difference just to go with 4 x cobs for a more even light spread and penetration.
I mean the QBs are awesome but need to be alot closer to the plants to get maximum par.

Does it justify another $275 upgrade or not
.
I’d do it and then get another tent for the 4 boards ;)

Personally only reason I'd get cobs, is if I had 20*20 ft grow op .

Or if I had a vegetable garden.

Strips are King for small scale weed grows imo

I could be wrong but, from what I understand, COBs use similar type of LEDs as the diodes that are on strips and QBs and are just a different form factor. Does anyone know if this is true?
I'd have to look into it but from my understanding they are pretty similar. Cob or chip on board is the same technique as placing individual diodes lined on a board. Kinda like the difference between the qb96 and 120.

When factoring in the angle of emission from the diodes having more diodes spread out gives more angles for the light to penetrate through the canopy.

I set it all up. Cranked it all on....fucken blinded me with light in such a small space. Those cobs are ridiculously bright. Love it. I'll run it as it is and see what happens. Only thing I dont like is the boards are harded to keep straight all the time while the cobs are very easily controlled.
