Ya I would defiantly quarantine. I brought some plants in my first OD grow. Brought in thrips with them was a battle for a year. I would soak the cuts in some 10% bleach water with a drop of soap or peroxide to kill most cridders. Some eggs are tough though. Recut the end after soak.

Hepa=high efficiency particulate air filter. Particulate is the only thing it removes. Dust pollen bacteria spores etc. Smells are not particulates well most of them are not think vapour. So you need carbon to adsorb the vapours they would pass right through a hepa.
