Take a look at this please...............

Need someone here that's good @ DIY.

I'm posting a pic showing a reference for what I need. Look carefully at the ceiling and notice the vent with grille. Now look at the two tents and their positions.

DSCN1549.JPG

I want to use that register on the ceiling and run duct to both of those tents. Those are 4 x 8 tents with a 400 cfm fan and carbon filter on each end of each tent. I want to get rid of the fans on that end and connect a 6" duct to each tent feeding off that register.

The duct leading to that register up in the attic is 8 inches.....................BUT the cheap cock suckers forced it into a 12 x 6 register box. So the opening is a drop less than 12 x 6 inches.

But, even tho the reg box is only 12 x 6 it is still getting fed by a larger 8" duct. What I want to do is rig something up against the ceiling, nice and tight with insulation, that has two 6" duct holes right next to each other and run that right to the tents.

Need some ideas thx 🤗

If the register box is 12" x 6", and that 8" duct connects directly to it, then it's not going to reduce the flow. An 8" round hole is 50.26 square inches and a 12" x 6" hole is 72 square inches.

I understand. That's not what I'm asking for tho. I want to hook up two 6" ducting from that register. Any ideas?

I would think that what you're looking for is a custom peice. Now maybe you can get several peices and make what you're talking about but it's not going to be "nice and tight" to the ceiling. It would probably be hard enough to find a 12x6 square to 6" round adaptor let alone a dual 6".

Also not sure what you mean by insulated.

A welder and some sheet metal would get it done. Maybe some tin snips too.

My friend keeps saying whatever piece I use to slap against the ceiling should have some insulation on it for condensation purposes. Like the same stuff that's inside a register boot.

All I really need is an 8" x 14" piece of metal/wood with 2 cutouts for 6"duct. Then maybe place some 6" collars thru one side to fit the duct on. The grille on the ceiling is 8 x 14. All I need is a replacement for that with two 6" duct collars on it.

That sounds easy enough. A peice of plywood you can screw to the ceiling or where the grill connected to? Cut 2 holes to fit a couple of these.

If I had tools I would make this out of wood or something....................
Of course the 6" holes would be bigger but this is for reference.

It would be the same size as the current grille and I could drill the 2 screw holes to fit right into the register boot.

Cut a template of it out of cardboard and have a local contractor ,hvac or gutter installation all require sheet metal fabrication, make you one. Just a thought
