My roots suck also. Four week veg usually nets me a small rootball in soil mix. I still get an ounce a plant tho. Could probably get more if the roots propagated correctly in those 4 weeks. I'm using Foliage Pro in veg. Changing to the Grow formula this week to see if any change đź‘˝

Im bad for foliar feeding as well. Its hard not to when you see the results almost instantaneous. I think next round im going to strip clones let teens recover then flip so they will have double root size

Learning to...just completed my first grow seed to smoke...more then happy with it but I feel if the roots werent so "birds nest" I'd have better uptake...gonna attempt some root trimming this round...any tips advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated!
Sounds very similar to me. My last grow was like yours. Then I saw all these guys running RDWC and wondered how they got roots like that! If you trim the roots back while small (not more than 10% at one time) it promotes more/new side roots to form. I mainly look for the "runner" roots that are out growing the root mass. I trim 1-2 times a week depending on how the roots are growing. Most of the time its like 3-10 root tips not more than an inch or two in length.

I start plans in 4" net pots and that's where all the trimming is done. This was my first plants to trim. They got a little long before transplant to 8" meet pots. Should have kept them trimmed a little more but it's all a learning process. The single plant I posted earlier is one of these before the transplant.

These are the current ones coming up in their 4" pots. They had a bout of root rot but hydrogaurd works wonders. These will get transplanted in the next week or two. Before they flower.

These need to be trimmed in the next day or two. I'll take some before and after photos when I do.

Nice! Didn't notice that. I've been thinking about making something similar for my 4" pots before they go in big buckets. Would be easier than checking ph/pph in each bucket every morning.

These bitches are soo resilient. All that broscience I believed about never touching the roots or trimming them was for the birds. I love growing monsters and now that I know about root trimming, I'm excited to see what the future holds. I'm only getting better with time. Learning more and perfecting my tech.
