For 10 bucks the ring would really come in handy.
I have put seed directly into a setup like that.

This does not supersede the advise above.

You can make the flood and drain shown in the DIY

You can make that bubble bucket for a lot cheaper. A basket lid is around 10 bucks, 5 gallon bucket, air pump and air stone or stones and something to hold it in the basket.

And it doesnt have to be a bucket. You can make it in a tote.

This is a 11 gallon tote with 2 cut out holes containing square pots (with more holes drilled) instead of a basket lid. 4 air stones and a 2 port air pump. Works better than my waterfarm.

And total it was around 30 bucks? maybe 40. It grew 11 oz. You can build it ! cheap too.

Or look at building that RWDC that Heisen has the videos for. Square pots for the win too. !

And why is it they always make them out of round 5 gallon pails. IS it because they do not want to buy from U-Line....I think so !

Ive grown with just about every hydro method, but never understood why recirculating would be more beneficial. It certainly is a lot more complicated and has the potential to leak

All my hydro systems have been DIY, BUT, I am leaning toward updating to Grow Ace Oxygen Pot systems
