Hmm I wonder what the difference between using 3 of the r spec boards, or 3 of the sabers would be in a real world environment.

Seems like the coverage would be pretty much the same over 2x4 footprint.

Edit: I guess the sabers might be marginally more widespread, but with that addition of reflective walls and overlap (in a 4x4 or larger environment) I feel like it would be negligible.

Still debating what ny next build will be. I like the quantum boards so far. Pretty easy to build when ya don't have a heat sink. They got these little ones called the qb96 I believe. Its there answer to cobs
I just used four of the QB96’s to build my light fixture for my 3x3 tent. I also added 8 far red and 2 UVA LEDs on separate heat sinks.

I had some metal left over, so I built a rack for the drivers and DC voltmeters.

Nice clean build. Lights interest me. Lol. Curious as to a few things if you don't mind answering.
You're running them at 100% power if I'm reading it right, my eyes ain't as good as they used to be. Lol. How do they run for temps with those heat sinks and that wattage? And what are the specs of the heat sinks, thermal resistance is the specific data number I'm curious of. Lol.
Why the two 480's vs just one running all four of them though?
Haha, well I guess more than a few.

Clean!! Thats alot of watts for a 3x3!
I guess thats best if ya turn it down right?
How do ya like an so far?
I love it! Run two QB’s in parallel on one driver, two on the other. I run them at around 100 watts per board and they are bright as f@ck! I run the far red and UVA LEDs on a separate driver. Those Meanwell drivers are labeled 480, but they go just past 500 watts when they are cranked all the way up.

So for 100 watts each on each that's 200w/480w driver?

I’m not what you would call a “smart mother f@cker”, so I can’t really speak to the thermal resistance of it. What I can tell you is that the temperature inside the tent after 18 hours on is 88-90 degrees. Hope that helps.

Haha, smart enough to build a nice light and choose an awesome hobby to use it for. Lol
Right on, yeah was just curious about em. Thanks.
That’s what I was told. I run each driver at 200 watts. Two boards per driver. Tell me if I’m wrong, because I’m not any kind of electronic specialist. I’m a sheet metal guy.
You could double the amount of boards you're currently running. The one 480 could easily power all four of those boards. Power another tent with that second 480.
thats enough to power all of your lights off one driver, I believe.
The max watt on a qb96 cant be much more than 100w they must be pretty bright!!
Bet they're super bright. Bet the plants love them lights. Lol.

hey guys, so I've been planning a light build for quite some time, issue is, I know just about jack shit about lights and leds! fortunately I have someone that will build anything I want, I currently even have a build thats almost done, should see her in about a week or 2.

but the new light I need will be for covering a 5x5 tent! I've seen some really cool things online and on ig, that's givin me some ideas...

I've even seen someone's build on here that made me think even further past using just leds...

so here's my thinking on this, different types of lights make different types of spectrums and color, by adding them all together, in theory we should be able to get the best of the best, and it would squash any light available for purchase!

which brings me to you guys, as I said I'm clueless with leds and lights, I was hoping maybe someone had some ideas, or maybe even reasons why this would or won't work, and which types of lights would work the best together!

anyway, thanks guys!

We got u!! Whats the types I wanna incorporate?
Max watts?
Max budget?
I'm about to go work 10 hrs on a hot roof and think about my babies and how I can afford to buy another light setup hahaha jk I gotta pay my bills mane!!
lol. I'm in the same boat my friend, my grow is how I pay my bills, I hurt way to dam much to be able to work a normal job, that being said I've been working on a hemp farm, but it's just getting it's feet off the ground, so it's more of a bunch of friends Helping out and growing hemp, lol but by the end of the year, we should all be looking a really fat check!

as for my light, I'm looking to have something built for a 5x5 tent, preferably something that doesn't need an ac to be cooled. it will be for flower only! other than that I'm open to just about anything! it will be replacing a 1k hps! I'd like to stay right around that amount of power, I have a dedicated 20 amp, to run that 5x5.

I wanna say budget would be somewhere between, 1k and 1400. give or take, cheaper the better of course lol, I'll have to pay for it out of my next big harvest, and save up some money little by little!

more than likely I will have Whyte throw it together for me, I know he gets discounts on parts, and he does very clean work! plus he has really hooked me up on my last build, it's not quite finished yet, had some things pop up, but she should be in my tent and running in about 2 weeks max, I hope lol.

I'd say max watts, would be right around maybe 1200ish, could go for more. as I've said I've got a dedicated 20 amp breaker, just for this light. so as long as I don't max that out I'm good!

Also heat is an issue, I'd like to be able to pull out my window unit for good, and Seal off the room! that would allow me to run co2, and I'd never have to worry about light leak!
