Im over breaking stuff up over by hand over a screen. But....I need some ideas maybe...? Nothing crazy, maybe an ozzy or two at a time material wise.

I have a drill press and some imagination....

Anybody have an attempt or something working? Pros? Cons?

Thanks!

After messing with a lot of stuff, I mainly use a set of these for dry-sift. Best investment was the 220m work screen, but I also have the 69-96-120 set, and others, pic below. These are only about 7" across, so they are just for grading the bulk already sifted keif.

I use an regular wide grid (1/8") screen first. I had these for another project and they fit on a 5 gallon bucket, but also over a big stainless bowl I have.

Once it fits through the wide grid it's cool for getting the goodies. The 220 work screen is like the bubble-bag version. But you could find a regular kitchen sifter to do the same thing, get out most of the big bits.

It lets lots of leafy bits through, but everything is separated nicely. From there the big batch of leafy-keif goes throuth a 120m screen in bulk (trim bin) and I just set a little wal-mart $4.99 back massager in the middle and let it go. I scrape stuff around with a card and you can see when it's mostly green up top.

Everything through the 120 screen is white/amber. From there I'll put it in the top of this contraption and hold the massager on the side.

If I am just doing the trim from a plant or two, I use the little set for everything after the leaves crumble through the 1/8" screen.

I still toss all theleftovers in the freezer to run through a bubble hash run.

Holy shit @H.A.F. ,thank you!! I'm about and about right now, so a longer reply incoming.
What a great write-up and I have looked at those round metal screens on the Bay before, should havr scooped them up!

I've told others, I'm retired and this is my hobby - I have time LOL

I looked at those vibrating sifters that roll and spin etc. and they look great for big production and you only need one keif size.

When I get my workshop set up I want to get rolls of different micron mesh and expand this project. It's only 120, so basically a homemade trim bin. But it has a piece of temered glass at the bottom I can pop out to scrape the goodies off of. Magnets holding it together.

You DIY that sift box? Mind showing us another angle so I can check out its design? I was thinking about making a stackable design with magnets similar to this with different grades of screen. I havent dabbled in hash making previously, so I am learning what I can, when I can.

This is actually a nice-looking P.o.S. that is a template to see what I like and don't to make a better one.

I found a thick piece of tempered glass, and made a box out of 2x2 to hold it. plywood on the bottom, with a hole in it so you can push the glass up.

It's the finish grade wood from lowes, so it starts out boxy, not rounded. Tighter fit. The 120m mesh is just stapled on the bottom of the other matching square 2x2 frame.

When I make a final version I want to use that rubber spline that holds in window screens instead of staples. (so you can remove it in tact and wash it) Just need the right width and depth sawblade cuts to make it work.

I believe I understood everything you said exactly as you intended. Much appreciated sir. I was mostly wondering if you had routered out a recess to accept the 120m or used some kind of screw down clamping systems, or used screen weather stripping. Staples on the rough version, understood. Looking forward to the redux. Waiting on a smoke report for that SC! Mine's nearly 6 weeks into veg.

I do like having it out of the 2"x2" lumber though. makes it easy to mess with. Like counter-sinking a bunch of washers and magnets to hold the pieces together.
I recently retroed my house foundation, house is 120 years old, virigin old growth redwood. I was able to salvage a handful of board feet worth. Figured it would be a cool way to honor the antiquity of my great grandmothers home, that is now my home, with something I can use and take with me, wherever I end up. Just have to mill it clean, no planer / joiner though, table saw accurate only.

I’m in no way selling these products or advertising them just the little video on this page might help a nice easy way to process dry sift at home with bubble bags

Also I found a site selling sift screens pretty cheap 15usd for a 20”x24”

I made something really awesome. Two things actually. I have videos of them but I guess I can’t post them. For one I took a small motor and rigged it up like an automatic stir stick and stuck it through the top of my pollen shaker. And then I connected my pollen shaker can to a small electric carving knife. Got the idea from seeing someone use a bucket and a reciprocating saw. Works PERFECT!

That's not a bad price for those sturdy frames. The silk screen itself might work for one of the layers if you knew the microns. It'll still come down to how to stick them together so you could stack and sift/grade through multiple screens.

Also, the main thing I like about mine is the tempered glass bottom. After sifting I can pop it out and take a fat razor blade scraper and clean it off into something easily. The new and improved one I make will be based on that piece of glass (12"x12") for size.

I like glass. But whatever you have at the bottom for catching the keif is what I would base my build on.

I’ve just shook in a similar screen over a gloss top table and scrap from there but I get what you are saying and yea the frames you can pick your micron size when ordering

Somehow they are cleaning to that purity. It is a big secret. Most likely a "sound" technology.
Claims it takes about 10 to 30 secs to get to that purity.
Were discussing it on D420 and Tara Lee Live last night.
I always thought that part of what makes hash special is the little bit of impurities in it. I personally prefer older style hash over modern day super pure concentrates.

I think the trick is that every strain is different. A ripe resin gland on one strain may be a wildly different size from a different strain. If you have an assortment of bags or screens for grading you can find that sweet spot where the best stuff is.

I sift mine to 120m as soon as it's dry, but I don't mess with it much after that. I like to re-sift mine after it has cured for a week or more, any veg will re-hydrate a bit and you can snag a few more impurities out at the 120m level, but after that I just see which screen catches the bulk of the keif. If it's two or more screens I might look at it through a mini-microscope and see which looks best.

Under good magnification you can see which grade has pebbles, and which has 'sticks and stones' or just waste.

The only time I mess with that level of 'perfection' is when I try making the Frenchie hash. Other than that, the good stuff and semi-good stuff gets decarbed for budder and the rest just gets smoked in whatever.

I still have two 4 gram temple balls I made using Frenchie’s techniques. They’ve been sealed in cellophane, in a cool dark place, for over 14 months so far. I tried it the first time after 2 months and it was so smooth. It was that nice thick smoke that I love about hash.
