You try a different bulb? Always keep one of your old used bulbs just for testing Is it a digital or standard ballast? Ive never owned or tore into a digital one but the old standard ballasts are just three parts basically(transformer. capacitor and starter/igniter) and they are easy to trouble shoot.

Is it fuse protected? Many/most digis are. Likely a small pull out tray right by the cordset if it is. Maybe you already know about this/maybe your ballast doesn't have one.....just a mention in case. I've had Quantums, Lumatek, and Galaxy and they all had a fuse....... Hope that might help....

I just burned up a ballast. I like to run MH for the first 2 weeks of flower before switching to HPS. Anywho, I decided to switch the bulbs about 5 minutes after the lights came on. Well, unscrewing the bulb while hot and not turned off shorted the ballast. Screw me!
Damn sorry to hear that. My flower room Phantom II is randomly shutting off and condemning the bulb. I've changed the bulb and it's still bitching, although less. I feel your pain.

This light has been a problem from the beginning. I picked it up off of Amazon a couple summers ago and it sat for a few months during the outdoor grow season. So, I didn't open the box until it was after the return date. When I opened it I realized they sent me used equipment. It was missing the hangers and the bulbs weren't wrapped, only sitting in their box. Flash forward 6 weeks and the HPS bulb shit the bed 2 days into flower. Automatic $60 for a new bulb. I wrote a review on Amazon that they claimed was against policy and wouldn't publish. Nothing back from the manufacturer either.

@KMOG I'm shaking my head at myself. Can't believe I did something so stupid. It stuff like this that I stopped drinking. But stress level is over the top lately.
Lol, entiendo. I do stupid shit all the time. Sort of threw my gf Onto the bed the other day, but was a Murphy bed at this Airbnb and had a side panel. Needless to Say i totally fucked up and now she’s got a pretty sweet bruise on the back of one of her legs...😅 shes into it.....I felt bad

As a side thought, regarding jumping out of the way of an a hot bulb (essentially a glass gray grenade), lol. It’d probably be better to jump closer to it 😂😂😂

Sort of on topic, some 315 watt cmh ballasts have a built in no restart feature for several minutes if the power is turned off unexpectedly. Probably has saved me a few bulbs.

Years ago a friend and I had a remote grow and couldn't figure out why our 1000 watt metal halide bulb was shattered glass all over the floor and plants when we showed up to water. Must have had the power go off and back on suddenly, our mentor later explained to us.

That was a kick in the ass, since buying grow equipment back then was sketchy, we'd heard of Operation Green merchant. So we went to an electrical supply house for a new expensive bulb, dressed as "electrical contractors" so we wouldn't draw attention. We even had tool belts and a pencil behind an ear to make it look legit. The things we do for this plant!

That's a great feature. I'm liking the dial a watt level option on the de gavitas these days too.

We've come a long way from slinking around trying to retrofit security or street lights into grow lights. Free market innovation advances as prohibition retreats. Yay!
