Putting together the new setup. shooting for 6 plants in the 4x4 in rockwool with the flora drip system

Im gonna need another light...running cree cobs right now and there working out great but i think im gonna use the cobs for veg and then use a 600w Gavita for flowering. try to keep it every 60days or so . Veg for 60 days then into flower then as their in flower start vegging the clones if i took any or vegging the next batch of seedlings.

curious if anyone else has run a gavita in a 4x4 tent before? What kind of headroom am i looking at? I dont wanna grab it and then end up not having enough headroom and burning them. Heard ppl say gavitas burn plants really easy and then ive heard gavitas can be 12 -14 inch from the bulb without burning them so im not sure what to do

Never seen a gavita in a tent but I know they don't have to be close to burn. Sounds amazing though and would love to try

for me its all about what produces the best results with the lowest amount of overhead. things like temp are also factors i didnt have to worry about before with the Leds that i have to take into account along with the electric bill

Could always go Luxx if supporting Monsanto is a big deal. basically the same thing. My led's do a great job but the tech is still on the expensive side. either $200 for another cob or $300 n some change for the gavita but then you have the increase in electricity running the hps.

I looked into Cmh a little while back. Ive seen great results with cmh but just personally ive seen some of the best results with a gavita or a luxx. different strokes for different folks Anyone no what the temps or headrooms like with a cmh?

i no Ivan and them were testing out cmh for awile but ended up going back to hps. but their also not growing in a 8ft tent.

I just wanna no if anyone has ever had any success throwing a 600w Hps in a tent and how much headroom you were left with, temps etc... If it wasnt for the smell id just drop the tent and hang the hps from the ceiling

how much headroom are folks getting without it being in a tent. 2ft? 3ft?

I gotta 600 sodium in the back of my tent and it's almost touching the scrubber . And obviously the filter takes care of any excess heat from your hid. So I'm about twelve inches away from the top . Hope this helps, also it's a wing reflector which is like the slimmest option

I was talking about the height from top of tent . I can put it as close as sixteen inches away and no leaf burn any closer is dangerous. Just keep an eye on the edges of the leaves u will know if they are burnt

shit. im thinking it might not work in my situation

i didnt even think about the height of the light to the top of the tent. im used to my leds being about 2 to 4 inches away

might just have to grab another cob.

Why buy a 2000 dollar Gavita when Turpmans GV2 set ups are better built and produce some crazy nice buds for less than 1/2 the price ? I got one set up in a 4 x 4 and its killing it. Or have Jesse build You a cob set up , both are top notch options far better than buying a POS Gavita. Just my opinion having run all 3 options before. Your tent , your money.

Gavitas have some really good attributes but more for the commercial side in my opinion

Don't veg for so long and top em like me haha
i was giving this some serious thought...along with putting 6 in a 4x4 instead of just 4 like i have been doing with 5g pots

The 1000W is 1800 up here + GST . so pretty much 2 Grand in CAD Monopoly cash,. Guy at hydro shop sells em and saw My GV2 from Turp , He was blown away by the GV2 , Told Me to keep My trap shut or He would never sell another Gavita. lol.

the optics i use now went up a ton in price making those a no go.

i think im gonna go with Optics new 600 slim. im seeing alot of really great results with it so far. Runs super cool with the 8 individual panels make it perfect for a tent.

$1200 is higher than i was trying to spend but i figure i wont need another light for awhile. I wont have to worry about temps in the summer or raising and lowering the lights in between veg and flower. it is on the cheaper side with the specs it has. Others in the same range ive seen upwards of $1500

4mins: Buggy Whips you may recall Devito and his great speech
its why I hate commumism ..I've owned 8 of the 1k Gavitas over the years glad I sold them
these Gavitas were my Buggy Whips having to change the shield every year
got too expensive even when I tried to use other shields......... check shield cost first?

Long Live the new Whip =LED
