I have two plants getting their first true leaves ready to pop. We'll call those a warm-up. I dropped the remaining three Platinum Ice and 5 more Chunk-a-dunk. I dropped a few from another source to fill the dome. This is my little germination station. Scrap wood glued to gether for a stoner tip-proof cup holder. Just the little hefty shotglasses from the grocery store. I am thinking about a drop-in screen insert to submerge the seeds from the start. I have extra cups of water staying warm to use in the spray bottle when I plant them.

I had heat mats get the water too warm, and their Vivo-sux thermostat is a wiry mess of bullshit that I wouldn't trust anyway. So I have a sturdy injection-molded 1020 tray on the mat so the cups have a riser from the direct heat, then a smaller seed starter tray for a cover to keep the heat in.

One thing to remember is that if the water feels warm to your finger it is probably above 98.6 F - not much past that and you are getting into danger-zone territory for germination.

In the winter it’s too cold in my house to do that (usually under 65°F) so I use a heat mat.

I've used a coffee filter the last few pops...andI dunno...it seems to fuck the dog a bit. Historically...I've used this contraption. It's meant for growing bean/alfalfa sprouts...but it works well for poppin of seed too. The only drawback is that you have to physically transfer the water from the bottom tray and dum it in the top a few times a day (I do it that often anyway). The water trickles through the stacks and don.....and there are ridges in the collection pans that catch just a bit of water. Everything stays wet/humid/etc....and the seeds usually pop in a few days.

Fuckin thing was buried in some boxes of shit but I found it. 2nd pop is in there now...should be seeing some action today, I hope. Theat first pop was disappointing. I hate popping seeds... cus when they don;t go...it's big money in that towel...

Still waiting on 2 more Platinums to pop tails...but there are 4 up. 3 other seeds spent 6 days in the towel and did NADA.....so they all got stuck in a cup and we will see. IME...if they don't pop in a few days they are junk. They either do nothing...or they rot.

And when they are SLOW TO GO....they are slow to grow as well, it seems. Ah....poppin seed is so much fun.

Never had it happen on seed sends within the US....but definitely had a few comin across the pond in the day that arrived with the green tape/card saying you can't import cannabis seed into the country/blahdeeblahdeeblah. One came completely ripped open...and there was a card...but deep down in the mix...there was another stash of seeds they missed...LOL.

The seeds aren't illegal, per se'...but I'm pretty sure that using the USPS to send em/or any contraband still is.

Did have bud intercepted a few times though "in-state"...in sends to my kids (LOL) On those I got a card saying they believed the contents are illegal/contraband....and I can come and retrieve it for 30 days if i so choose...or it will be destroyed. (smoked by an officer after dinner)

I don't think anything will happen...but your addy is likely flagged now. Gonna have to safe house sends/etc. for a bit like the old days....

My guess is that the package got ripped/torn/damaged during shipment and the contents came out/were visible/etc. Those were packed in those hard (IMO) to open envelopes you have to cut open...so that seems the most likely scenario to me. It certainly wasn't a send/package that stood out from anything else, IMO. Just bad fuckin' "luck".
