Incremental Harvesting

So I was looking at what Royal Queen Seeds suggests the harvest window for Royal Gorilla is and it is 8-10 weeks. So here is a thought/question. Is it OK to cut off all the crap/wanna be nugz you know you are going to wash anyways when the harvest window opens at the end of week 8. Then just leave the premo colas to go for the full 10 weeks to fully ripen?

Only issue I see would be over-stressing the plant. That, and the lower stuff is sometimes the last to ripen?

I think you would be past the point in growth that it would benefit the tops with extra size, but it might make them a little more dense.

SWEET! I don't think Gorilla minds stress much and I like the idea of more trippy/cerebral trichomes making its way into my bubble and I definitely like the idea of rock hard nugs. Well that tears it, I'm going to try doing this on Gorilla and see what happens cuz I also like the idea of only having to cure nice stuff and everything else goes into a ziploc then freezer for a future bubble run and DONE!

Cheers H.A.F.

remember - I'm a newb. Might want to wait for someone else to chime in.

Every time I've heard of someone doing incremental harvesting they've done it the opposite way. They usually wait for the top colas to be ready for harvest, take those, then let the lower buds ripen up for another week or two before taking those.
If I wanted to smoke the lower stuff that would definitely make more sense, but I really want to see what some bubble made out of milky/clear trichomes smokes like. I think I am going to go HAM on my first initial harvest of Gorilla next Sat and just leave her monster colas. Then fuck it I'ma snip the tips on the remaining tops and hopefully leaving her no choice other than back build and SWELL.

If you're gonna rape the plant anyway, do some of both. Take some tops and some lowers. Learn.

So did you find out anything from your gorilla incremental harvest?

Yup, the bubble that I made from the lower larf as soon as the harvest window opened was pretty lack luster and not really worth the trouble. (y)
When the trich's ripen they break off more easily. The reason most trim hash is great is because the leaves amber up before the rest of the flower. Unripe trichs are unripe trichs, regardless of where they are.
Did the top colas swell and get more dense from removing the lower flowers?
No way to tell if they acted differently. They would have swelled regardless as they ripened. A matter of degrees would be hard to tell without lots of roughly identical clones to test.
