Colorado Checkered Whiptail lizard

"The unique lizard has only been considered a distinct species since 1997 and is believed to be a hybrid of the common checkered whiptail and the six-lined racerunner. In recent years, several populations of the lizard have been eliminated or substantially reduced because of land conversion and development in the Pueblo, Colo., area."

Saw a lot of these here this season. Very colorful. 4-7 inches long
