I hate trimming

Right there with ya @Now1more . It's that Catch 22 thing though....the more you have the better...and the worse....LOL
In the day when I was making $$$$ doing this I spent far more time than I do now for personal...even with far bigger plants/weight in Summer than i ever saw indoors. "Hash" saves the day. The bucket/bags don't care about bag appeal..... heehee.
but yeah..it can be a real test of yer sanity and yer neck muscles....and I had carpal tunnel surgery because trimming was killing me and very well may have contributed heavily to the condition.
Those machines though...make instant Brocolli out of yer buds. Like dispensary buds. I'm sure it works for some guys slingin weight out the door but for the folks who like pretty pot...nah...not gonna happen.
Friends can be an asset or a liability....it just depends on how well they can trim. I've had a few folks "help" that just made it evident that I'd be goin back in to clean shit up...basically...double work. Hey..it's only a few more days locked in place...what's the big deal?

That's why I grow the 4-tops or manifolds like I do - I can have a plant trimmed, washed and hanging in about an hour. I don't veg long, and get less yield per plant, but I have zero larf, and most of my trimming can be done just leaf-plucking with gloves while it's still in the pot.
Took this down last night (Sacred Lotus by @J.James) and it took about 45 minutes start to finish. I spent more time plucking leaves than anything, having the sturdy stems makes it easier. actual scissor time on each limb was 5 minutes tops. Each limb was 40-50g, 181g total. Nowhere near a "monster" haul, but I am just growing for me. Those lowest nugs are ping-pong ball size.
I think if I was going for a cash crop I would do something similar, just on a larger scale - and anyone can be taught how to pluck leaves

supposedly a couple of those new cylinder type machine trimmers are actually pretty good. loki was just talking about his on ig. the buds he ran thru it looked good.
they are stupid expensive but when you have that much to trim you either spend your days and nights trimming for weeks on end, or pay someone to do it. it would pay for itself in no time.

I use the bowl trimmer for all my outdoor just to much to do in to short of time gets me drying and curing can always finish trim later but all my indoor since it’s never more than 12 short/med size plants I hand trim it all but I’m w ya trimming is the worst

I enjoy it. But, my plants are few and small (not by choice) and this is my second season.
Maybe I'll have something to bitch about when I'm growing plants with 2 liter bottle size colas.

The big colas are the ones that are easy to trim. It's the small buds and larf that are a real pain in the ass and time suck.
I don't mind trimming too much but I can usually trim an entire 4 plant harvest in a day over the weekend. I trimmed about 12 ounces of bud from my outdoor AK-47 the other day and that tok me about 2-3 hours, but about half of that was larf that got very little trimming. I still have one remaining outdoor plant to harvest and it's really made me wonder why I bother with the outdoor plants. I'm never really happy with the product I wind up with from outdoor grows, and they seem to take the most of my time when it comes to harvest, trimming, and tying them up before/after storms. I think I might skip growing outside next year.

My buddy uses a machine at work and doesn't like it. He said the buds look rough and it knocks a lot of trichs off.
On a side note, I will not use those plastic covers on the greenhouse again. I will wrap with regular 6 mil plastic next year. Looks like the cover dry rotted. Now I have specs of plastic everywhere that I have to pick out. It adds so much more time to an already daunting task. Live and learn.

If you grow 'em mostly for hash/concentrates the task changes immensely @TreeFarmerCharlie. (at least it did in my world) Still a buncha work...and usually not the frosty wonderland the indoor is....but damn....when yer pulling pounds off plants rather than ounces....all of the differences go out the window IMO. I'd have to drop an entire tent full of plants into the bags to rival what I can pull from one, nice outdoor gal. Big difference fo'sho'.
Beyond that...the fact that it's been illegal for so long just always has me planting shit up....if for nothing else...for the principle of it all. There are still far too many cats out there who can't risk such fun and that is damn sad cus it is so much fun.

thats why sometimes i just say fuck it and anything smaller i dont trim, i just run into bho.
another reason why i strip my plants of most their smaller buds 2 to 3 weeks into flower. anything below nodes 4 and 5 get cut off.

I feel your pain. I've got a gorilla glue still drying like that, shouldn't have topped it so much, it's got a handful of decent buds and a bazillion WTF small buds.
Last plants are coming down today or tomorrow. It's interesting to see the difference between the same clone sisters from grown indoors to grown outdoors. The stragglers are two Dynasty Moose N Lobsta's I tested outside for mold hardiness in 5 gallon buckets and are finishing up in a small greenhouse. They're a little airy (but smell great) while their sisters inside are much denser. I pollen chucked both plants with a male from the same seed pack and am gonna work on a quicker finishing half breed with the offspring over the winter. Probably use some Iranian (a real quick finisher) to do that.

I cut a notch on 1 of the blades on my scissors. It makes a sharp "hook".
